    Carrying IDs at the parks???

HI on the seaworld and universal tickets it says we have to carry our photo id i.e passport or driving license. Can someone tell me if we can carry photo copies of passports and will they except it or not. Any experience with this will be great.

Many Thanks. Please PM me with more information.

    Hi,
Maybe someone in here can help.

Yesterday, we booked 2 adults and 1 child to go Orlando in March 2012 through a local First Choice shop. My partner was pressured and persuaded that it was the best price by the shop and put a deposit down.

Upon returning home, we looked through the brochure we were given and notice we have paid £450 EACH more than the 'guide price' in the brochure. Obviously I feel ripped off...we have used the travel agent before and had VERY good prices so trusted them.

I went in today to query it and was very rudely spoken to saying the price was agreed at the time etc etc...even though we know it was pressured upon.

We have also found the same week flying with Virgin Atlantic a whole £900 cheaper online.

Where do I stand and can anyone offer suggestions? I said we'll cancel and was told we'll lose ALL of our deposit (which we paid half of yest and the rest has to be paid in May). Can they do that? Is the best bet to ring head office and ask for a price match?

I put my trust in them and have been well and truly ripped off...wish I'd come on here first!

    Any suggestions?

It just keeps coming up with no flights found for the day you want to travel. Tried Thur 19th, Friday 20th, Sat 21 and Sun 23 July.

Preview brochure states £937 per adult!!! Looks like it will be Thomas Cook for us again then.

They changed it over the weekend I think as I tried for someone else and it stopped working. If you call them you can book it over the phone. Ouch, the price certainly ramps up in the summer holidays. I am surprised that week tbh, we got a Bargain break to Butlins starting that weekend because some kids at still at school, ours have an inset day.

I would certainly be asking for a price match!!

If they will not price match I would:

Rebook with Virgin, saving you £900 on 'this' holiday.

Then I would go to the shop and:

    a) Tell them you no longer want to go to Florida as something has come up (surpise family event you have to attend)
    b) Pay the £35 each amendment/cancellation fee and use the rest of the depsosit to book a holiday elsewhere, cheaper.

As long as your amended 'new' holiday does not cost more than £900 all in then you'll not be any worse off as this is the price you initially wanted to pay.

Maybe a summer holiday in England this year or a trip to Disneyland Paris?

I would tell them you want a price match else you'll be amending your booking and going elsewhere, if they want you as a customer then they'll bend over backwards to help you. Make sure you've checked a new holiday first so they cannot keep you there, faffing around.

    Be firm!!

I just googled for some more info and found this:

    11. If you change your booking

11.1. If you want to change any details of your booking (such as changing to a different hotel or changing a name in your booking) or to cancel an optional extra you have booked, we will do our best to help but please note that changes that more major changes, such as those that would lower the basic price of your holiday or that would otherwise result in your holiday ceasing to be a Package Holiday, will be treated by us as a different holiday (see 11.4(i) ) and changes to the hotel or flight within 56 days of departure will also be treated by us as a different holiday (see 11.4(ii) ). We charge an ‘Amendment Fee’ for each detail of the booking which we allow you to change without a cancellation.

    11.4. If:
    (i) at any time after you have booked your holiday, you want either to change to a different holiday or change your hotel or flight, and as a result your holiday ceases to be a Package Holiday; or
    (ii) within 56 days of departure, you want either to change to a different holiday or change your hotel or flight;
then you will have to pay cancellation charges (see section 12). If the change means we must send you new tickets, we cannot give you any refund until we have received all your old travel documents, including tickets.

Been 5 times, and going again in June. Have never carried passports or photo ID, or copies - and have NEVER been asked to provide them to anyone in the parks. I always have my UK drivers licence on me anyway. So I really wouldnt bother.

We was asked for ID at ALL the parks when collecting our tickets for the first time. After this no, but to collect the tickets if you have a voucher then yes you'll need ID.

One idea i had, which might work but not gonna cry if not is that if you have an iphone is to get the skype App and skype call people back home.
but where ever your staying will need a wireless internet connection.

  • That would be a great idea (and I already have the Skype app on my phone ) but dear parents don't even own a computer, or a mobile so for them only a phone call will do and using my mobile is going to be expensive I think from America. It does work fine with DH when he is on his travels so I think you might be OK with it if the UK person can cope.
