hi everyone,
i know this is probably one of those how long is a piece of string questions! but ... i havnt been able to find anything by trawling on here.
here goes...
we go out to orlando on 1st sept 09 ( only 8 more sleeps!!) we have been before a few time the last time being dec05. 2 adults 1 child
since its a while that we last went and i cant for the life of me remember how much we took i was wondering how much people reckon we will need.
we have hotel (wyndham orlando so anyone who has experience of this hotel i would really apreciate your views as i have read horror reviews on travel sites!;() all paid for.
car hire paid for with all insurances
i will be buying disney 5 day base tickets no hopping as they suit us as we have seen it all before, and only universal one day ticket, not doing islands of adventure as rides too big for grandson
seaworld one day, kennedy and gatorworld, also going to mickeys halloween party.
for all the above i have priced these at the park prices and they total 1500 dollars inc taxes
this will leave us with about 2800-3000 dollars for food and shopping do you think this will be ok, ( i panic alot) we dont have credit cards and i dont really want to take my debit card.
any advice or tips from recent travellers would be very much appreciatedself confessed 80's throwback:D

I would say that is more than enough for you but it does depend on what you plan on buying and bringing back IYSWIM.
Hope you have a great time and don't forget your ESTA form. I believe that they have gone live now.January Grocery 11/3740 -
yes ESTA is live and needs doing 72 hours before you travel but you will still need to complete the green visa waiver forms for nowSelf confessed Florida expert

Hello,
I am going to Orlando for the first time next Easter, with my 2 children 4 of us in total). We have booked flights and car for just under £2K, and are now looking to book a villa for the first week in Orlando (the second week we will travel around finding motels en route, or if we bottle it, we'll book a villa on the Gulf Coast).
We want the villa to be big enough for us all, near enough to the parks in Orlando (but not too near!), but cheap.... ideally under £400 for the week.
Please could anyone recommend me a nice quiet villa?! There are so many websites, and few have the option of searching for price of villa. It is getting very frustrating. Is it worth paying extra for pool heating over Easter?
Where is a nice part of Orlando to stay?
Many thanks for any help!0 -
that sounds plenty louiser123, but I would recommend taking a credit card, we got one just for emergencies and was so glad as I had to have urgent dental treatment and we would have really struggled without it0

Ok
We looked at Netflights and definately going to hire a car- for 75 quid for the basic, it will definately be worth it, we can take the Iride when weve had a cocktail or two:beer:
We would like to keep the accomodation costs as low as poss, and been looking on hotels.com and see a number of "basic" motels for around the 15 quid a night mark. Im happy to pay up to 30- but this end has to have some level of value added.
Has anyone got any particular recommendations for the budget end? I guess the best place would be international drive? Or would it be kissimmee? Wed like to be able to get out to some real nightlife- we have no kids so can stay out as late as we like
Kissimmee looks like the place for nightlife- plus of course all the others like city walk, PI etc.
Decisions, decisions- can anyone help
Have you thought of using priceline? My partner and i got the 3.5* Rosen Centre on i drive for £20 a night, we are only there for 5 nights, then moving on to miami where we got the 4* eden roc for £39 a night and then onto to the bahamas!! I cant wait!
Id definitely recommend price line, name your own price - when used with one of the bidding info websites (such as betterbidding.com / biddingfortravel.yuku.com/) as they give a list of the potential hotels you can get, as well as what people have recently paid.. :-)0 -

Hi
nicest area to stay is LBV for sure. Great location and good value hotels and resorts. You could try a complex like Cypress Point Resort which is walking distance of Downtown disney (long walk but still). As for Villa locations, stear clear of Davenport and go for something either on Emerald Island oir Indian Creek, Formasa Gardens etc. They are all the neatest to Disney but are still a good 20 mins away.
My favorate ones would be on Orange Tree, Weston Hills or even Sunset Lakes . A little further north up the 27 but a nice area.
You can see all the locations here. http://www.orlandovillas.com/Map.aspx
For cheap deals check google for last min villas in orlando. There are many sites where you can check and complete details and see whats about.
You will do fine with a 3 bed villa really avoid a townhouse as the pools are quite small. As for pool heat, yes over April you will need that but please make sure the place has a GAS heater for the pool heat as it will get the pool warmer sooner.
400 may be tight as its Easter but try anyways

Thanks platterfish, might well have a look at priceline. Must admit, I have felt rather scared of it :rotfl:
I must sayt though I do like the "low level" motels style where you can park the car next to the room. Very conveneint for me who leaves stuff behind in car/room. I did see the Rosen though and thought itr looked pretty nice
We are def "off season" wonder if theresa bargain to be hadWe were going to choose theContinental Plaza. has pretty good reviews considering its only 15prpn off Hotels.com and the location is good ( opp W&W)
We booked the flights last night so all systems GO GO GO!
1st October 7 nights from man- 417 charter- couldnt bear the multiple changes and the 18 hourness of some of the scheduled , so we got that on TCA. Cheaper than with TC direct by about 30 quid PP. Were v happy
Does anyone know if TC charge you for using the TV on board? ( ie do you have to hire these mini tvs) Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Hi FINCH Go on any of these sites put in your requirements, make sure you you tick any bed villa. There are some 2 beds but very few and far between. Should be a box for requirements and put in you only want to pay £400 a week. You should get a few sent to you. Best place to stay is all a matter of opinion.
If you are going to the parks and staying all day you do not have to stay close to the parks. If you are going home midday for a swim and food then yes close to parks.
We like Southern Dunes because it is straight down the I4 and the I27 quite often its quicker than staying in Kissimmee. No blasted traffic lights. I think the people are nicer down there were it is more rural.

I would also try the Dibb villa section. But for me the Dibb is a little to big and impersonal. But that is my opinion! not held by many others.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0
