thanks for all the info jeannie and blue monkey
does anyone know why its so much cheaper to go in june than all the other monthswe are hoping to go then but just wondering why its sooooooo much cheaper is it the rainy season
we have checked this june prices but are hoping to go 2012 so hoping the prices are still low next june0 -
I have been researching going in Dec and the cheapest I can come up with for flights, accommodation, car and park tickets is circa £5000 is this about right?
It also looks like they get you on the tickets as going into disney and the 7 parks( I only want to go to 3) it costs £224 for a ticket and then Universal studios is another £80 ish. I would like a combined ticket for all the parks so the parks alone for 2 adults and 2 children are going to cost around £1000. I am starting to go off going but I do really want to go, am I missing something?0 -

I suppose it's because there are no US holidays and most UK schools only have one week. Spring Break and Easter are over and the next holiday is 4July. Hurricane season is June to November officially, but it is unlikely to affect you early June. I have been several times in June and the weather has been perfect and the parks reasonable.
The first weekend in June is Gay weekend at Disney though which is a huge event. Regardless of your attitude to gay events it can be an issue. In recent years it has grown into 5 days and the sheer numbers have meant inevitable unsuitable behaviour from some. It is the only time I have ever seen visible security in Disney.
The first Saturday in June is Gay Day at Magic Kingdom and some of the hotels on I Drive are designated to the event (this year it seems centred around Doubletree Resort), so I would not want to be staying in one of those, especially with kids - they can get very rowdy. As with any very big event the few can spoil it for the many.
Disney have been challenged about the event, but say their hands are tied.

If you do a bit of research though you should be ok.

You could just chose to go to one of the other parks if you like. It does bring the overall park crowds up though.
The rainy season is July and August which is also expensive and busy.0 -
There is no "magic ticket" as such as Disney and Uinversal are competitors iyswim...
Unfortunately ticket prices are expensive and you haven't mentioned Sea World/Busch Gardens..also Legoland opens later this year.
Parking at the theme parks is also $15 per day on average.Bit of a Florida Fan :j

Booked up for the 9th-19th Jan 2012 with Virgin, staying at Disney's All star music complex. First time I've ever been to disneyworld as an adult, not been to florida for 10 years! So excited, decided on jan as it is more low crowd than dec and we need atleast a year to save plus I love going on holiday in january makes it a month to look forward to. Has anyone ever been in jan? What was the weather/crowds really like?
Also does everyone think Animal Kingdom is a must do, never been and don't really know if we will have the time to fit it in, but let me know otherwise!
We've just been in WDW this January. The weather was a bit nippy first thing and after the sun went down, but we had lots of sunshine and a few days of T shirt weather. It was perfect for park touring, to be honest (though I am used to going in August when it's very hot, so it was a contrast to that!)
Low crowds in the park, plane was only a third full, so that was VERY nice. Only slight negative were the Brazilian tour groups, really.
Assuming your ticket gives you entry to Animal Kingdom without spending more, I would suggest it would be a shame not to go, even if you only nip in for a few hours?0 -
thanks jeannie thats great my daughter doesnt start school until sept 2012 so that would work out great saving a few £££ we were planning on going 9th june
onwards are the gay days on the same time every year although this wouldnt be a problem for me i can inagine the parks would be very busy thanks again0 -
The main event, Gay Day at Magic Kingdom is always the first Sat in June.0

Seems to be a good time of the year to go, although it is such a long time away! I guess more time to save
I am a bit confused by your £1600 - £2000 for 2 weeks? What is this figure for?.
That's just the hire cost of the villa at Windsor hills resort, 5 bed 5 bath with pool etc. Getting a price for complete package mind with all the issues of late with flight issues etc then I do have a worry about losing the cost of accommodation if doing separately.
That said if the difference is large then the risk could well be worth doing it DIY.
Keep us up to date with your planning.0 -
Hi,
I am hoping to go orlando this year and do a couple of days of disney, but do not want to stay onsite, it is far more important that myself and the kids are near shops/malls, I do not drive so transportation needs to be good wherever I stay, I have no issue taking a couple of days out from my week to stay on the disney site but certainly do not want to spend the whole week there.
Please advise,
Thanks0
