Disney have been challenged about the event, but say their hands are tied.

Wow, I'm blown away by that. I've met Pete Werner (the podcaster and owner of wdwinfo.com) and he's definitely a proud, out, gay man. For him to say something, they must have had some real problems. When I clicked on the link I expected it to be from the Southern Baptists or something (sorry jeannie, not judging you there) but Pete Werner? Crikey.

I just read all of that too. Wow. I have seen somepictures from a few years back and it is not somewhere I'd want to take the kids to be honest.

We have been toying with Disney in June but this has put me off tbh, mind you, we could come home the 1st weekend in June because that is when half term ends. We could go Mid May if school allowas, I'll not have a year 2 or year 6 then. Is the Saturday the first 'day' as such?

My son said he was not fussed about going for his birthday, it would be lovely to go sat a time where the weather was hot enough to swim at night again, as it was in October.

We have been toying with Disney in June but this has put me off tbh

My experience was several years ago and we had never heard of Gay Day at Disney.

We arrived at MK and immediately were aware of a sea of red t-shirts (there is a different theme each year but always involving red t-shirts) and the park was very busy. The next thing we saw was armed security outside 'City Hall'- strange.

By the time we reached the end of Main St we had seen a couple of VERY crude slogans on those red t shirts which our children were old enough to read and ask questions about.

We joined a queue for Splash Mountain and were then made painfully aware of shouting across the lines by a rather large group, graphically and crudely detailing the previous night's events.

At this point we decided to leave the park. We called at City Hall, detailed our experience and were apologised to, saying they fully understood and give us free tickets for two days, that day refunded, plus one.

Those behaving badly did seem to be in the minority on that day, although we did leave pretty quickly. The nature of the behaviour of the few was very much out of place in MK though.

It is absolutely nothing to do with sexual orientation and everything to do with acceptable behaviour especially in a place very much centred around children/families.

I don't let it put me off. It is easy to avoid the one park on the one day although it's a pity to be made to feel you have to. I really don't think the other days at other parks are an issue.

To answer you question Blue there are events held at each of the parks usually leading up to the "Main Event" which is the Saturday. You can find the calendar of events online. http://www.gaydays.com/Gay-Days-Calendar/, but as I said the other days should be fine.

Funny thing though, last year I witnessed a young couple in Epcot having a bit of a cuddle, nothing at all offensive, and they were politely asked to refrain or leave the park!

That's just the hire cost of the villa at Windsor hills resort, 5 bed 5 bath with pool etc. Getting a price for complete package mind with all the issues of late with flight issues etc then I do have a worry about losing the cost of accommodation if doing separately.

That said if the difference is large then the risk could well be worth doing it DIY.

Keep us up to date with your planning.

That really does seem like a heck of a lot of money for somewhere to stay, although I imagine it is absolutely stunning.

I might have to re-mortgage to go the way things are going!

It is a good chunk of money but it is nice and split between 8 to 10 people it's pretty cheap for two weeks.

We are trying to book a trip to Florida for Sept this year. There are the two of us and a 2 1/2 yr old. We are currently weighing up the pros and cons of staying at a disney resort for the Orlando part of our holiday. I'm finding it quite hard to choose a resort or decide what is the right option for us. Things we like about the idea of staying at a disney resort is themeing for LOs enjoyment (breakfasts etc), transport (so we could have a weeks less car hire - DH doesn't love driving!), the added hours for 'quieter' times. Does anyone have any experience of the resorts/tips/thoughts?

Included in some of the prices I'm looking at is a disney dining plan - can anyone give me some feedback on these?

The other option we were considering was the Floridays resort. Does anyone have experience of them at all? We like that idea from a price/space view as well as indepenance from Disney!

Finally, we are only thinking of being in orlando for a week. As LO is so young, we don't expect to do all 7 days at the parks, yet all the tickets seem to be the same price whether 5 days, 7 days or 14days (currently on by7daysget7daysfree). Have I got that right?

    Thanks

    Hi guys

just a quick question on spending money. 2 adults 2 weeks would 4k spending be enough? We go on the 7th march and already have our theme park tickets so this will be for food, shopping, taxis etc. Neither of us have ever been to Orlando before and so really didnt know how much to save

thanks proud mummytothree:). We have heard different stories from friends some saying how cheap:D others saying how expensive it is:eek:. We have done a lot of research but still couldnt really decide on a spending budget. All we knew was that we didnt want to spend the holiday watching the pennies so saved every penny we could:)
