Hi all,
Thinking of going to Orlando again for 2 weeks at the end of September / start of October 2012 to coincide with the Scottish Half term (have to take the kids out of school for 1 week).
There seems to be a lack of airlines from Scotland these days as I last went with flyglobespan (now bust).... Thomas Cook seem to fly direct but it looks like they might be very expensive as they are around £700+ for October this year.
How do most people from Scotland get to Florida for a reasonable price? Drive to Manchester? Connecting flight in London?
How much is a reasonable price now adays? the tax seems to be through the roof!
I assume flights for October 2012 won't be available for a considerable time? I just want to start getting organised
Thanks
Seems to be a few planning for this time, hope not to many we want to keep it quiet:rotfl: virgin holidays releasing packages on the 17th of Feb for mid September onwards. Going to see what they are offering, quotes for villas are available direct. Around 1600 to 2000 for 2weeks this is for a five bed on Windsor hills, flights as ever are the only major variable.
It's good to excited so far in advance!0 -

I agree with Karen G - go around 30th October instead as you get Halloween and then Xmas starts around 8th. Weather is not too bad either. We went that time of year 2010.0 -

we wouldnt have a problem finding it as we went there in 2005
we plan on booking with thomson so the car will be in with the price
as they are the only ones that do a flight from newcastle and with a 3 and 4yold we dont want to travel to manchester i wonder if we will be able to hire them when we pickup the car
i dont really want to take mine as there would be just too much to carry are carseats including in your bagage allowance
also i wonder if we could just take 2 basic booster seats until we get to walmart the girls will be 3 and 4 do you know the ages and things about carseat restrictions
thanks jeannie you have been very helpful
also just noticed on the walmart site you can buy online then pickup in store would i be able to buy them online in england and arrange
to pickup instore in florida would that work
Would these be any good: http://www.trunki.co.uk/products/boostapak_9/boostapak_21 You can get them on as hand luggage, the girls can carry one each. The reviews of them being used as a bag are not brilliant but if you ant them for a seat that the girls can carry on the plane, these will do perfectly.0 -
We are considering holidaying in Florida next yr, there would be my husband, myself and our 4yr old (nearly 5yr) daughter. There may well be other family members with us.
Next year is the last time that we can holiday "out of term" time as our daughter will start school in Sept 2012 so we will have to travel by then. From what I have read, the weather is better in June than July or August, is that correct?
I just wondered, where on earth do I start? There seems to be so much choice between hotels, villas and areas. Ideally we want to be near to Disney and would plan to go every other day so it isn't too tiring, does that sound feasible? I don't know what our budget will be but would prefer a nicer std of accomodation if we are going to be using the facilities every other day.
Does anyone have any advice of where I should start to plan?
Many thanks0 -

I always went in Sept before I started to teach. It is a cheaper time to go and the parks are usually quiet, I haven't been in October but others say that its nice then too with the Halloween decs.
Where you stay depends on what you want to do, when we go we spend most of our time at Disney so stay onsite which we love. We have also stayed onsite at universal studios which was great too.
If you are planning on doing lots outside of the disney parks then staying onsite isn't so important.
We are going in Aug this year and have free dining as we are staying onsite at disney which will save us a fortune.
As much as I love this site the best site for Brits visiting Disney/Florida is www.thedibb.co.uk
My daughter was 4 almost five the first time we went, if yours loves the princesses then a meal with them is a must - mine is getting too old now for princesses.:(0 -

That's my favourite time of year to go too. In the price of your Disney ticket you not only get standard attendance but the food and wine festival with its free concerts. You can also attend Halloween and Christmas events and if you're there late enough catch the Osborne Family Lights. You have the option of going to Halloween and Christmas parties for an extra cost. The crowds are relatively light and the weather is good because the hurricane season has just finished but the winter cold has yet to move in, so you can swim in the day like you would in the Summer, but need to carry your brolly less. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Seems to be a good time of the year to go, although it is such a long time away! I guess more time to save
I am a bit confused by your £1600 - £2000 for 2 weeks? What is this figure for?Hi its just the preview brochure thats being launched

Hi, I take it you mean the virgin holidays brochure? When are the Virgin Flights for Oct 2012 expected to be released?
I wish Virgin flew from Glasgow all year round and at the same cost as Manchester. They seem to only fly during the school holidays and have a nice premium price attached.0 -
Don't know how long it will be available, but for anyone wanting a direct Virgin flight leaving Manchester Good Friday (April 22nd) returning Fri 6 May it is currently £487.
Pretty good considering there are no extras to pay with Virgin.0 -
Booked up for the 9th-19th Jan 2012 with Virgin, staying at Disney's All star music complex. First time I've ever been to disneyworld as an adult, not been to florida for 10 years! So excited, decided on jan as it is more low crowd than dec and we need atleast a year to save plus I love going on holiday in january makes it a month to look forward to. Has anyone ever been in jan? What was the weather/crowds really like?
Also does everyone think Animal Kingdom is a must do, never been and don't really know if we will have the time to fit it in, but let me know otherwise!"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."0
