    Hi there,

I wonder if any of you can help me. Never been to orlando before. I have been doing a bit of research into how we would like to spend our holiday and hubby and I have agreed to stay in the I-Drive area but we won't get a hire car (neither of us like to drive when on holiday). So as to save costs on transfers in the day can anyone recomend a hotel in the area that provides complimentary transfers to disney as well as the other parks?? If not what are the best/cheapest way to make your way to Disney?

    Many thanks in advance.

hi most of the hotels on i drive have transfers and there are shuttle buses all the way up that you can hop on to take you where you want to go very cheap too ;)

Hi Helen, this is the way i would do it. Look for a hotel/condo on IDrive that provides shuttles to Disney only, or to Universal aswell .A Taxi to universal from anywhere on I Drive is not too expensive or get off the I Ride Trolley at Wet nWild and walk across to Universal.
Seaworld ,Aquatica and Wet n Wild can all be got to on the Iride trolley www.iridetrolley.com.

Hi All - thanks for a very interesting thread.

We have booked to go last week of May and 1 st week of June 2011. My query (if anyone can help) is car insurance for hire cars. We have 2 hire cars included in price but the insurance is £210 for each car for the duration of the stay in addition. The insurance that already comes with the cars is basic.

Do we need to spend that much on insurance? Would it be cheaper to just hire cars elsewhere with insurance included and not take up the two included within the price? Or source insurance separately? (I have looked on Martins thread about this but it doesn't seem that straight forward - although I am at work and so don't have the luxury of time!)

Its seems such a lot of money. Any advice would be much appreciated.

if the cars are part of package then the insurance is probably more than it would be going directly to hire company.
the basic insurance is just that basic if the car was to get damaged/stolen then you will be liable for repair or replacement costs the basic only really covers third party liability.

have a look at carhire3000,dollar,alamo etc and get a quote for the weeks you are there to see which way is cheaper.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see Trip Planner. Enter your dates you will get historical records for that time of year.

Personally, I like June. The weather second half of June is just starting to get hot enough to trip afternoon showers though normally, but nothing bad and parks are not usually too busy, although they are very quiet in September.
  • Am looking at going to Disney at Christmas. I'm struggling to find info on whether the Disney parks are open on Christmas Day. All I can find is the times of opening not days, does this mean its safe to assumethey're open all round?

Also, what is the weather like in Dec?

  • Thats not exactly what I wanted to hear, but thank you so much becuase I would rather find out now rather than when I'm there -miserable because it's cold and packed... and because I'd have just wasted a few grand ;)
