Hi, I am thinking of going to orlando florida and have been looking at how much flights cost for 2 adults and the cheapest I have found is about £2000 return for both of us, is this really the cheapest I will get it?

Flight only, for both of you £2k? So £1k each? That is very expensive. Economy?

When do you want to travel? if you leave it until close to departure time you can either grab a great deal OR be stuck with non discounted fully flexible fares (v expensive).

School holidays tend to be very pricey too.

Just wondering if anyone has got any good recommendations for road maps for Orlando/Florida? I am looking for something good. I have seen a few online print off maps, and the detail is rubbish. Only major roads marks none of the little roads.

We will be doing US/IOA and all those parks. Also want to go to Busch and Kennedy space centre. So want something good so we dont get totally lost on our way to Busch or KSC.

they can be purchased while you are there, the hire company will give you a map that is not bad.

although i went in march and did not need a map the roads are far superior to ours and so are the road signs.
i drove around orlando, went to kennedy and drove orlando-miami-orlando and back to miami, had no problems never got lost once and did not feel the need to have a map.

    Hi

The best map I have ever had for Orlando is found here. http://www.orlandomaps.co.uk/

The guy that does it is a massive Orlando fan and a professional cartographer (sp?). He has produced a fantastic map that not only lists the main attractions but also every shop /restaurant you could ever need.

For Florida itself I have used Rand McNally in the past.

While I agree with Johnny Roper's comments that the driving experience and signage is good, I have found the lack of a map when getting lost (!) and not being able to get back on track a massive problem. If you don't get lost, you don't need one ;) but if you do, you do....!

Having said that, I am directionally challenged :D

Did anyone read The Sun yesterday? The Virgin holidaymakers in Orlando now have exclusive access to HPW. Jammy so and so's. We put off going as there was no official opening date!!

Can anyone give me a reliable limo company that I can book to get us from the Airport please. I was going to use Mears but have read a limo is $50 an hour but Mears charge $60 from the Airport so it makes sense to have a limo surely?

Would it be cheeky to get the driver to go via a supermarket so I can pick up some essentials before we check in?

Also, do the Villa resorts in Disney (OKW, AKL) have a supermarket on site or do you have to go completely off site to get coffee, milk, cereals?

I'll second both http://www.orlandomaps.co.uk/ (used this ourselves on our last visit) and Rand Mcnally for driving outside of Orlando itself, we particularly like the Rand McNally Easy To Read series
which we've used in various states. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rand-McNally-Easy-Florida-State/dp/0528881175/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1275818981&sr=8-1

We used quicksilver for a limo transfer from hard rock hotel to Disney and they were fab, don't know whether their rates are competitive for limo airport transfers - heres a link to rates (I think if you mention thedibb when enquiring they give a discount)
