Price includes the 10% discount. Mickeys party sounds fantastic - my little boy will love it! Just looking at park tickets as well - think I might cry when I have to actually hand over all this money, never imagined the tickets alone would cost over £1000 for disney and the other main parks!

I am starting early on planning our first (but hopefully not last) family trip to Florida and the amount of advice out there (and on here) is overwhelming.

There are 5 of us, 2 adults and 3 kids will be 15,13 and 8 in Aug 2012 when we plan to go.

    I have budgeted for £6000.

Playing around with various dates and websites it seems that because there is 5 of us the best deal will be a Villa which to be honest is what I think we would prefer anyway.

As this is our first trip and we may not get to go again for a while is it worth trying to make savings?

It looks like I can get a villa in Kissimmee for £3500 aprox for 2 weeks with carhire, then £1000 approx for 14 day tickets which leaves us $1500 for food and spending money for 2 weeks.

We normally spend £100 a week here in the UK for our groceries.

The holiday is with Thomson Cook.

I don't mind paying this price as it's the first time and would like as little hassle as possible.

Does this sound like a plan?

my 2 pennies worth as i have been looking for next september, avoid a package deal with thomson, thomas cook virgin etc you will end up paying a lot more meaning less money for spends when there.
book everything seperate villa's work out reasonable price if a few of you going.car hire cheaper booked directly aswell.I am currently exploring the virgin flydrive for 2 adults and 1 child as i think for me it will work out cheaper with the 15% discount i get,but best thing to do is pick dates carefully then do some searching on net.flying direct to tampa with ba looks like it could work out cheaper than orlando just got a hour or so drive from airport.

How did you find flights so cheap? Cheapest I can find for 3 in Oct 2011 is over £1800! Am looking to fly around 15th for 14 nights (although can go a little earlier). Have found Virgin Fly Drive for £1783 if we depart on 12/10/2011 for 17 nights although I am not fussed about flying virgin (despite earlier post - am ignoring my partner!).

Can anyone find me a flight for a fiver!!!!!!! If I waited for flights to be officially released can anyone give me a rough idea of what they would cost for next Oct (2011)? Have used the link posted by Mr Lahey but again the fly drive with Virgin seems to be cheaper.

    No chance.

trouble is the flights are not actually released until approx 11-12 months before, virgin hols can give prices as they are same comapny but even those are liable to change.have a look in oct/nov this year and more will be on offer and prices will more than likely be more reasonable.
i had a look on thomson flights for sept 2011 flying bhx-sfb and coming out at £650 ish per person they were around £100 less each 2 weeks ago so just goes to show how much prices fluctuate.

Your right - partly! Just realised I was searching for October this year - doesn't seem to go up to 2011 (October).

Flights are only released a year before as MrL said but with that little loophole on the VH booking a flydrive you can book now for then.

They told me that the holidays side gets a certain number of seats then the airline gets the other. We booked in Feb to go in October and there were just 8 seats left on the flight.

    I know what you mean.

I've just been looking at the Halloween Party and Mickeys Christmas party - both are on while we are there. And they cost (gulp) $54 for adult tickets and $49 for kids tickets. However, it is a holiday of a lifetime for us, we will go to both of them. The dates are on the Special Events page of the park on the WDW site.

And if you are there you MUST go and see the Osbourne Family Lights at MGM (look on Youtube) I saw them in 2000 and so hope we are going to get to see them before we leave on 13th as they are something else.

I agree with this as we booked hotel plus flights, however do not discount using thomson, or thomas cook for the flights as we used them and got them quite cheaply.
