Has anyone used themeparkticketsdirect.com? I bought a couple of flextickets and they've just arrived with a letter saying how certain things are closed and bits of the offer isn't valid. Does anyone know what flextickets are supposed to look like? I'm just a bit of a nervous buyer. Thanks

Haven't heard of any of those but I like the idea of the Sedgeway tour. Going off to google them now:D

If you are interested in Anna-Maria island, the Traveller Photos on Trip advisor give a much better idea of what it is really like than any of the official websites.

What things are listed as closed/not valid, can you explain a bit more?

Andyg, you can sell them on at the little ticket booths on your way home and get some money back - especially if they are doing the ultimate ticket 14 days for the price of 7.

Aren't the tickets linked to your fingerprint?

In which case how could somebody else use them?

It says on the letter that Universal Express multi day ticket added value benefit is no longer available on flex tickets. I have no idea what that means.. is that something to do with skipping queues?

I think it's all fine, was just a bit paranoid. Other stuff it mentions on the letter is Aquatica being closed until next week or so, and Blizzard Beach for refurb which i know is not on the flex ticket but is mentioned.

I'm not Craig but I can give the pros and cons as I see them of each (having done both quite a few times I do have a favourite but in a sense it's irrelevant as what's best for my family may not be best for yours)

    Villa Pros
    Loads of space
    Your own pool
Ability to easily do washing / drying
Ability to have the odd quick meal at home (or all if you want!) rather than eating out
Multiple TVs etc, sometimes a games room so everyone can do their own thing to a degree
More than one bathroom (important if you have teens ;) )
Break from the theme parks with their 24/7 stimulation

    Villa Cons
Always have to drive, can feel isolated
No other children to play with
No maid making the bed everyday (this one is slightly tongue in cheek ;) )

    Hotel Pros
Tends to be cheaper (if you stay in a cheap one - most Disney hotels aren't the cheapest!)
Usually stuff going on entertainment wise
Nice big pools with other children to play with (if you have them!)
Often stuff within walking distance eg restaurants
If onsite there is the excellent Disney transport
If onsite some people like the feeling of being surrounded by the "Magic" (some people hate it)

    Hotel cons
Usually have to do your own laundry in the provided washer/dryers, nowhere as convenient as having your own
Less privacy if you are a family
    Less space

I'm sure I've missed a few too. Don't rule out a condo which can offer the pros of both, eg Cypress Pointe.

    Hi All

Been away for a while and am sorry for that so catching up and I see lots of great stuff been happening on here. Thanks Karen for grabbing this one, i agree completely. The half way houses like Cypress Point or Summer Bay are a good mix of both.

The reason I have not absent without leave from here is that we have moved house and we all know how bad that is and also the Disney Brit and Eye on Orlando podcasts have exploded. We are now LIVE on Orlando radio every Saturday and also across Florida which is great news. Its ESPN Radio :) Plugs over :)

    Take care all

I wondered where you had got to Craig! You had so much useful advice for everyone when I read this thread last year, I was missing seeing your tips this year:)
  • Welcome back Craig! :hello: I 'hovered ' around this thread for longer than I care to remember and found your posts very helpful!

Please bear with me as this is my 1st post on here. I often look on here and found everyone very friendly and I am now in need of some help. my partner and I have decided to take our 2 sons to disney world next january they will be 5 and 13months. we have only been on holiday once in 2008 with our son to majorca, we stayed in a villa and although it was nice it was too remote and we are big kids and found it quite boring.
We have been saving very hard dispite just having a baby lol, our budget for the whole holiday is 5,000.
I have been looking on the net and in brochures and i am very confused (it doesnt take a lot) on site holets seem to be too expensive and everywhere else inc flights are about 2,000 - 2,500. does this seem about right? will 2,500 spending money be enough? we want to experiance as much as we can but have a stress free holiday if that is possible.
because there are so many attractions i am confused as to what passes we need, where to go and how to plan our 2 weeks.

sorry for waffling, any tips will be greatfully recieved

    thanks J
