We've booked with Virgin, total for 4 of us after discounts was £523 (NOT each!) that's flights & 21 nights at Quality Inn Plaza on International Drive with some breakfasts included

WHAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!! £523 IN TOTAL??? FOR FOUR!!!!!!!!! HOW??!!!
Sorry if I come across as a bit dumb, but i'm in SHOCK!!!!!!

Apologies! Just read back a bit about Tesco vouchers. Phew! Thought I'd been doing something VERY wrong! Congrats!

Yes it was depressing!!!! Thomas Cook said as a 'special' rate they would do me $1.53 to the £1 - that's really low isn't it? No idea where to start looking online for some as would like to get at least $1.60/$1.70 to the £1 if I can.

    Get the Fairfx card.

To put it into perspective if you wanted to change £1000 going by the rates right now (high street rates - 1.50) Thomas Cook would give you $1500, Fairfx would give you $1570.

It might only be $70, but over say £2000 its $140 or nearly £100.

Used every year you could save a fortune.

Hi everyone. We're heading off to Florida over Easter and have already booked a villa on the Atlantic Coast. We are looking at booking a villa on the Gulf Coast. We have checked out many sites and have noticed that there seem to be a lot of villas available for the required period, despite it being only 9 weeks until the date we require.
Is there possibilities that owners will be prepared to accept reduced rental from their
advertised prices? Would it be a bit dodgy to leave it a few more weeks?

    Thanks for any thoughts

Thanks for your earlier help guys.

I think I have all my tickets booked now, doesn't look there will be a rocket launch at cape canavral but hey ho!

We're staying at Lake Buena Vista, what would you guys recommend as the best way from the airport, the hotel suggests a shuttle bus ($132 return for 4)?

Also, I've booked a day at discovery cove, would we best get a taxi there and back?

    Thanks in advance.
  • If you look at the airport website Orlando or Sanford you'll find a list of private hire cars which wouldn't be much more for 4 people at a guess. I used Sams Transportation from Sanford and would recommend some will do a supermarket stop for you so you can buy drinks, nibbles for the hotel room.

KarenG if you are around, you asked what room we got. We got a 1 bed Savannah View in Kidani Village. Just what we wanted!!

I called OKW today and ask if I could have a room preference noted - they said I had called a little early and to call back 10 days before we go.

    LOL.

  • Hi all

Would any kind soul be prepared to help with some questions I have? There is a lot of info contained in this thread, but would probally take me a month to find the bits I need!

We are two couples with two kids each, oldest is 9, youngest is 6, 3 girls one boy, adults who like like to relax as much as running round after the kids keeping them happy.

    So my questions are:

what is the best time of year to go to Orlando? we would prefer sunny warm days.

other than Disney, what parks will cater for the kids, and the adults? ie rides that both can enjoy

what age/height restrictions are on the famous rides?

    what beaches are recommended?

should we get two cars or one people carrier?

have you an idea of flight prices?

is is better to get a ticket for all parks or pay on the day?

is parking free at the parks?

what other attractions are there, maybe lesser known but worth a visit?

Thanks in advance, you can PM me if you prefer.

We are two couples with two kids each, oldest is 9, youngest is 6, 3 girls one boy, adults who like like to relax as much as running round after the kids keeping them happy.

    So my questions are.......

what is the best time of year to go to Orlando? October, it is still warm, the parks are empty and the rain has moved on.

other than Disney, what parks will cater for the kids, and the adults? ie rides that both can enjoy? Universal and Busch - I personally don't like Seaworld.

what age/height restrictions are on the famous rides? My son could go on pretty much everything at 6 - Hulk etc when he was 8.

what beaches are recommended? Clearwater is the best beach in Florida, in fact in the whole USA. Also go see Dolphins for about $20pp

should we get two cars or one people carrier? One people carrier imo.

have you an idea of flight prices?
between £280 in off season to £600+ in peak - October happens to be one of the cheapest times of the year.

is is better to get a ticket for all parks or pay on the day?
Get a 14 day hopper, then a 2 day Universal.

is parking free at the parks? Nope, its about $12 per day.

what other attractions are there, maybe lesser known but worth a visit?
Head South to Alligator alley and Miami.
