I understood that was the difference between the villa and the onsite cost.

Yes that is correct Karen.. anyway after alot of umming and erring we have decided against SSR (at least for August anyway!!;);))

We have booked 17 nights in a 4 bed villa at Calaby Parc.. direct flights with Virgin Upper Class and 14 day disney and 14 day Universal for £8000 which is less than the price for a 2 bed villa at SSR and economy flights :D

Blue Monkey have been to Florida for last 3 years so need to look into the whole DVC thing!

Help!!!! We are planning to go to orlando at Easter and I am confused by so many developments to stay - are they all fine or are some 'not so good areas' - any advise would help. We are a family who want a villa and pool and close to disney.

    Thanks

I can recommend Emerald Island Resort - have been to Orlando three times and have stayed at Emerald Island twice! I would definitely stay there again. It's a lovely gated resort with a clubhouse & communal pool if you fancy socialising on site, close to the 192 and close to Disney. Here's its location on google maps http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=La+Isla+Dr,+Kissimmee,+Osceola,+Florida+34747&vps=1&jsv=202c&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=29.772081,78.662109&ie=UTF8&ct=clnk&cd=1&geocode=FRg_sAEdWnQi-w&split=0
    hth :)
  • Hi Guys,

I've been lurking for a while. Hoping to go to Orlando in April for honeymoon for 14-16 days with 2 boys (9 & 6). Totally overwhelmed with choice. I think Lake Buena Vista looks good, I guess boys will mainly want Disney and waterparks.

We definitely want at least one separate bedroom and probably a kitchen.

OH not looking forward to driving, so would prefer somewhere within walking distance of restaurants

    Has anyone got any recommendations?

Great news! Do you know if you are in Jambo or Kidani?

I am not sure Karen, they said the confirmation will arrive next week so I guess we will find out then. To be honest we do not mind either way - we paid £250 to stay one night in AKL as it was back then (now Jambo) and for just a room.

We have week 3 to book and have our eye on this place here So hard to get the right place to stay. Another night wasted dreaming of a holiday :)

Sorry Blue Monkey! I've read your earlier reply now :)

We have stayed at SSR twice, OKW once, BWV, VAKL twice as far as the DVC goes. We are really excited to be staying at BCV & BLT next trip so we'll have the full set then at WDW :D

We almost never have enough points to bank into the year after, as I seem to constantly dip into next year's to borrow them.. LOL

We are hoping to do Harry Potter in August too!

Ooh, you'll have to let me know what it is like. We have not been for a few years, now the kids are getting older we figured we could go back again, have been doing DLP instead to get our 'fix' but it is nowhere near as good of course. Now that DVC has come onto RCi it looks like we will be going back again and again.

    9 months to go.....

Yes, do, Usually I get yelled for mentioning the T word and it kind of feels like a dirty secret because 'Martin says they are a bad thing to have' but I think we have got an amazing deal and it has been well worth the money we have paid out to date.

Does not need to be DVC that you buy into but any company that exchanges into RCI so you can bank your week and get an exchange week into DVC for the fee. I think with things as they are DVC are finding it quite hard so lots of people are banking weeks. If you like holidays such as the ones you are taking it is certainly worth looking into for the future.

When you are there you can go for a presentation, they give you free stuff but it might be worth it and come home and have a think about it.

Have a look at this for a week in International Drive: http://www.hilton.co.uk/orlandoseaworld I found the prices tonight, really are very good for all that you get.

    Also, this: http://www.nickhotel.com/

There are not a huge amount of places in Lake Buena Vista walking distance of eating places unless you stay near Downtown Disney but then it is very expensive. If you stay on International Drive you can get the i-ride trolley up and down Int Drive. Also to add, we do not drive either but last time we got tickets for the Lynx buses ($12 for a ticket that takes you all over Orlando) and cabs. In 2 weeks we spent less on cabs than we would have paid has we hired a car - and that was before fuel. Might be worth thinking about that if hubby does not want to drive, it is $10 just to park in WDW.

Well fingers crossed you get a savannah view whichever you end up at :)

If you're in Kidani (or even if you are in Jambo) do check out Community Hall and fun stuff for the children.

    HGV looks awsome!

A night dreaming of holidays is NEVER wasted :D
