Well I've rejigged my budget a bit, and the new one is £80 a week for shopping. diesel and anything else we may need. We're going out for the day on Bank holiday Monday, so that money is seperate out of our days out fund.
I'm quite looking forward to going shopping, and trying to stay within budget.Mummy to 3 fabulous boys all under 4 :eek:0 -

I've not posted for a while now, but have a few updates
The bank account is looking surprisingly healthy to say that we've bought flooring for DS and the new baby's room. We did get it from the Floors to go sale though at £1.99 a squate meterWe've also bought the paint for baby's room too, which was on offer 2 for £20 instead of £16.99 each, so got some good bargains I think.
I keep meaning to buy some more maternity clothes, as mine are sooo tight, but I only have around 7 weeks to go, so don't want to buy something I'm going to wear for such a short period of time. Instead I've decided I'm going to buy a couple of pairs of pj's from Primark, that are classed as 'loungewear' :rotfl:I can get away with wearing these in the house both before and after baby is born, and will wear my 2 pairs of maternity trousers that fit the other times.
On the accounts from, we have £60 left in the diesel fund, but DH has just filled the car right to the top as the proces keep going up. £150 left in the groceries fund, and we don't need much this week (although there is an Asda baby event soon, so am going to stock up on nappies). We also have £140 in the spends fund, so realistically if no more big things need buying, we might stay in the black this month :j
DH finally bought a motorbike yesterday. It seemed a pretty good deal tbh. It was £999 at 2 yrs old, and is a good runner. Also got whole lot (kit included, lid, jacket, boots, pants and lock) for £1240. We've put that and the insurance which was £334  on a 0% credit card, so need to work on making payments for that ASAP.
I only have 2 weeks left at work now, so if we could stay in budget this month and then start next month with a clean slate that would be fantastic!! We have 2k in the baby fund, and will be able to carry on saving at least £500 a month whilst I'm on full pay, which is 2 1/2 weeks holiday, and then 14 weeks after that, so around 4 months. Hopefully by the time I go onto SMP we will have at least 4k saved up which we can did into if needed - althoguh I'm going to try and keep us out of it. It will definitely be belt tightening time. We want to have the rest of the housey jobs (baby's room and utility room) done before baby arrives though, so that should cut down our spending loads.
On the savings front, we have £40 in the car maintenance fund, £20 saved towards the breakdown cover, £75 towards Xmas, £400 towards car insurance, which will hopefully cover it (if it's less than that we'll put the money towards the bike ins), £105 towards Tax/MOT (due next month), £27 towards house ins (just renewed last month), £80 towards a summer holiday, and £16 towards birthdays. I feel very organised :TMummy to 3 fabulous boys all under 4 :eek:0 -
Your doing absolutely brilliantly, def agree with the idea re clothing, and re Primark purchases, silly wasteing a fortune on something that is only going to be wore a few times.
I know when I was near the end with dd, I had 2 skirts, 3 tops, pr crop leggings, and pr shorts, we went away 3 weeks b4 she was due, (long story - but split up with OH when 7 mths gone), so my parents tooke me away for 2 weeks down to Devon, my poor dad always reminds me it was the lightest I ever packed!!
Footwear was the funniest, my feet had gone all haywire + swollen, and by the time of the hol te only 1 pair that fitted was a pair of dads sandals, so come rain, shine I wore them! xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Woo Hoo we've booked a holiday :j
We're going to stay on a working farm in Devon next April which will co-incide with DH's 30th. The littlies will love it!! They can get donkey rides from the farm donkey. Every morning they can help collect eggs, and then help feed the animals. They have tractor rides and all sorts.
Plus the little cottage we're renting looks gorgeous and cosy, and has a hot tub outside :T I can't wait!!
Will just have to up our holiday fund a little bit now, so we have enough money to pay it off by February, and can afford spends while we're thereMummy to 3 fabulous boys all under 4 :eek:0 -

Well not posted for a few days again, but thought I'd better to an update. Well we're still in the black so far... it's the best we've done for the last 9 months :jI think we have everything we need for baby now, we picked up the cot mattress this morning, and have ordered the car seat this afternoon too. I start maternity leave on Thursday - can't wait
This afternoon we went back to town to take something back to Primark, and I happened to nip into Boots, as I'd been told that there was a sale on the toys. We managed to pick up ALL the rest of DS' Xmas and birthday pressies for £25!! We got a big Aquadraw reduced from £24.99 to £6.12, a little Aquadraw reduced from £7.99 to £1.78, a Draw and Drive reduced from £19.99 to £4.90, a Hotwheels toy reduced from £9.99 to £2.70, an ITNG set of 3 toys reduced from £6.99 to £3.18, a Fisherprice Amazing Animals toy, reduced from £17.13 to £4.29, and a Squishy ITNG toy reduced from £4 to £1. So we got over £90 worth of toys for £25Mummy to 3 fabulous boys all under 4 :eek:0 -
You've done brilliantly, can't believe those bargains.
Sounded like youve got the money side well sorted, and everything for the baby, have you got much more to get for xmas.
Bet your looking forward to Thurs, have you got much longer to go? xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I don't have anything else to get for Xmas for DS, although I will probably get something for the baby. Just something small, and something useful (if I can).
Then DH and I just need to buy a little something for each other, something for DH mum, dad and gran, and something for my sister and her DH, so not much at all really. I'm going to tell everyone they will have to have their presents bought online, or have vouchers, there's no way I'm Xmas shopping with a toddler and newborn!
I'm 34 weeks on Tuesday, so will have another 6(ish) weeks to go xMummy to 3 fabulous boys all under 4 :eek:0
