    Xmas Saver!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,

    have a great day xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
  • Well I've not much to update really, but thought I would post anyway. Trying to have a LSW. Hubby is putting underflooring in the utility room, and we've bought some basic white paint to undercoat the walls. We need to get some 'proper' paint to finish it off. We also want to get a length of kitchen worktop, and some metal legs to make a work surface above the washer and dryer, and then some wooden shelving or something to stack the washing/ironing on.
Hope every one is ok? x

  • We went to the car boot sale again this morning and have got some more fab bargains.
Got DS a Happy Land train set for £3!! It works and looks like new! I'm going to leave it out for him when he gets up from his nap, and if he's not really bothered about it I'll put it away for his birthday.
Also got a baby bath, 2 pairs of booties and some little boots, about 3 vests, about 8 hats, a gorgeous babygrow and a little furry jacket with ears. DS got 2 jigsaws, and loads of toy cars. Hubby bought some paint rollers to paint the utility room with today :j
I think I'm just going to potter round today really, and get some ironing done _pale_

  • AAAARRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Please can someone beat me with a big stick!!

There is a week and a half left in this month, and we're £160 overdrawn! We will still need some food bits such as bread, dairu and veg, and the car will need at least £30 of diesel. Why am I so rubbish at keeping us out of our overdraft??

These are the things we've bought this month that were 'extra' expense. Feel free to SHOUT at me.

B&Q - £45.69 - This was for plasterboards, as hubby had to plasterboars, before the plasterer skimmed the room
Mothercare - £24 Maternity bras, no choice on this one, as I couldn't squeeze into my others
Ikea - £5.98 - buying 2 'spare' comforters for DS as he is obesssed with the one he has, and had a major panic when we couldn't find it ;)
B&Q - £35.71 - Bought a 'my first trampoline' for DS, this has been put away for his main birthday present, so wasn't just bought on a whim. Also bought him some new curtains for his room, as the ones he had weren't keeping the light out.
    Boots - £8.18 Meal deals x 2, this was a total whim
Poundworld - £13.00 Stuff bought on a whim
Debenhams - £15.50 new dress and leggings for friends wedding on Saturday. Didn't have a maternity dress suitable
Druckers - £9.25 Coffee and buns WHIM
White bear pub meal - £12.95 This was a birthday lunch for me
Mothercare - £25 Maternity trousers for me, as have outgrown all my others
Golf - £10 hubby, this is his only hobby
Matalan - £9.00 Stuff for new baby
    McDonalds - £11.23 WHIM
B&Q - £69.33 Flooring and paint for utililty room (the one thats just been plastered)

No wonder we never have any money!!

  • On a positive note though ...

Hubby made almost £200 off Ebay, so he's booked his CBT and I've also bought 14 reusable nappies for the new baby.

We got given a lovely chest of drawers for the baby's room, and are being given a wardrobe, so haven't had to buy any furniture.

Hubby is collecting some kitchen worktop from Freecycle tonight for our utility room, so haven't had to buy any.

Erm, we went for a free day out (apart from lunch) for my birthday instead of going to the zoo and spending £30.

Boots - £8.18 Meal deals x 2, this was a total whim You're also paying interest on the £8.18 since it is debt.
Poundworld - £13.00 Stuff bought on a whim You know this is wasted
Debenhams - £15.50 new dress and leggings for friends wedding on Saturday. Didn't have a maternity dress suitable
Druckers - £9.25 Coffee and buns WHIM Not nessisary, you can't afford it
White bear pub meal - £12.95 This was a birthday lunch for me
Mothercare - £25 Maternity trousers for me, as have outgrown all my others
Golf - £10 hubby, this is his only hobby Might be his only hobby, but that doesn't justify it when you can't afford it. Treats are for when you have money spare, not because you 'deserve' them.
Matalan - £9.00 Stuff for new baby Could it not have waited until payday
McDonalds - £11.23 WHIM Again, not needed
B&Q - £69.33 Flooring and paint for utililty room (the one thats just been plastered) Could realistically have waited until payday.

No wonder we never have any money!!

Sorry, but you are not really budgetting, and falling into the trap of thinking that because its cheap, that means its a bargain, when in fact its still money you don't have!

I want someone to be harsh cos I always start being like this at the beginning of the month, then let it slip after a week or two...

Re the trampoline and curtains, they couldn't have waited til payday, as they were on special offer, and i had to search high and low to actually get them at a store near us. I know we could have left them, but as I'm going to have a new baby only 3 months before his birthday I want to start getting sorted now.

The flooring and paint for the room could have waited til payday, but tbh we still wouldn't really have the money for them then. This room and the nursery are the last jobs we are going to be doing around the house for a couple of years now, and we just want to get them finished so there is no mess from decorating when the baby comes.

I know there may seem like excuses, and I agree with the majority of what you say. However, once these household jobs are done, it 'should' be much easier to stick to budget.

  • Grrrrr just got a letter from Yorkshire Water to say they're putting our water bill up by £5 a month too. Why don't things ever go down
