    Had it up to here with Cahoot. Nightmare since opening the account with trouble setting up the direct debits and now I notice the cheeky bleeders have changed their telephone no. so that you pay 4p per minute no matter when you call. Nice eh - phone up to sort out a problem they have created and they make a profit out of you!!! Well, just cancelled my account so will see how long the cheque takes to arrive...

    Another money saving tip - search for alternative numbers on www.saynoto0870.com. - I did this yesterday and contacted them on 02476 627190 which only cost me 3p in total.

    Received an email today informing me that the closure of my account has been finalised today and a cheque has been posted. :j (Now it's in the hands of the Royal Mail :eek: so I wait in hope). I requested closure on 27th April which is a bit more than 10 working days.

    I have my letter of complaint/compensation request typed out ready just to add the date I receive the cheque and it will be straight in the post.

    Latest in the long running "waiting for the interest cheque"
    Today Royal Mail put a postcard through the letterbox informing me that they were unable to deliver a recorded delivery letter because the sender (Cahoot) had not put enough postage on it.
    I now have to pay £1-91p postage to collect my letter.

    Talk about rubbing salt

    All I can say is the amount of interest paid had better be correct when I do finally get the letter.

    Good job we had those smelling salts in the cupboard or I could have been out for much longer......

    Anyway, as you may have gathered from that, I have received my cheque today :j in the 'notmal' post (no Recorded Delivery) - I am obviously not as wealthy as some of those who cheques required a signature.

    48 days from request of closure - is that a record? My letter (see post 183) has been sent immediatley regarding my disgust at this whole farce. (Only one problem with that thought, means I cannot shred all paperwork to do with Cahoot and forget they ever exist.)

    I wasn't going to post anymore following receipt of the cheque but now there's letters requesting compensation going out (including mine) I think I'll stay in touch.

    Sorry to disappoint you but tomorrow is day 52 since I asked to close my account, and I`m pretty hopeful, after speaking to the postgirl today, that the recorded delivery letter should be here by then.
    I already have my complaint letter composed and as soon as I`ve scrutinised the interest cheque very,very carefully,it will be in the post to the person and address I gave in my post # 183

    Basically I had the same amount there since the interest was paid last July and the rate has only changed once.
    Take the lump sum and multiply by the NET interest rate then divide by 365,then multiply by the number of days `til the rate changed.
    Then do it all again using the new rate and the number of days,from it, up to closure.
    Hope it doesn`t sound too complicated.
