Slightly off topic here sorry. But didn't want to start a new topic for this.
My wife and i have decided to try for our first baby. She took her last contraceptive pill sunday and has started her monthly today.
I through this forum discovered that it isnt as simple as i thought, what with a condom splitting at 16 do it once and your pregnant being how i thought it worked. Never guessed it could take a YEAR or longer!!! WOW!
My question is though what is the quickest my wife could get pregnant. does it take a while for the pill to flush out her system etc.??
Many THanks

She could be pregnant this month. Assuming she ovulates in around 10 - 20 days, you could get lucky with a positive test around the time her next period's due.

There are lots of websites when you put in your details to work out your fertile times assuming she has a regular cycle. Sometimes they say it can take 3 months after coming off the Pill but some people get pregnant straight away.BEST WIN LAST YEAR - MULBERRY HANDBAGSENDING STICKY VIBES TO THOSE WHO NEED THEM

I'm sure I could but my gp doesn't recommend it whilst ttc, and I'm not sure I like the idea either tbh
Can't you get something like provera or norethisterone to reset your cycle? (((hugs))):(
At this rate I'm not sure I'm gonna get time/chance to do the hsg before my already postponed fs appt "I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -

Evening everyone

Sorry you're suffering BZ
lets hope it doesn't last much longer!
Well, after all my appointments and pain since saturday my usual doc seen me today and wants to get me tested for Coeliac Disease
My stomach is SO swollen. Thankfully it's not as painful as it was but I look huge but have actually lost 5 lbs since saturday....Ive been trying lots of different OTC tablets and have now got to have a blood test and an endoscopic biopsy
On the plus side she is referring me straight away to our local fertility clinic and is outraged that my other doc told me to come back in 6 months again!
Every cloud and all that......Im just very worried about my stomach its humungous! lol!0 -
I've taken them numerous times to reset my cycles while ttc:o
You only take them for 10 days or something and proper AF comes few days later.
If the gynae/fs suggested it then I probably would, but I kind of want everything to be as natural as possible, so I can present the most accurate picture of what my body is doing, for the appointment with her in a couple of months. If this excessive bleeding is a sign of something she can identify and treat, then that could be helpful information for her (and me) to have...iyswim? And as one of the tests I have to have before going back is a cd21 hormone test, I'm also thinking that taking something to deal with the bleeding would skew the results from that..? I don't really get how the work though, tbh, and "never say never" and all that... If I'm still bleeding like this (hope not!) when my gp comes back from his annual leave I'll go ask him about it all -see what he suggests...
Dancing butterfly - good luck with your tests etc. I hope you feel better soon

Hi Big Z. I think I might have mentioned this to you on the other thread quite some time ago, but in case not my experience might be relevant? I lost about 3 stone 2 years ago and towards the end of that loss, my periods went completely haywire and I was bleeding virtually non stop. I had one 7 week bleed, then a week off then another 11 week bleed. I had a mirena in at the time and up to that point had had no periods at all for about a year.
My doctor and gynae were a bit stumped but I hadn't actually mentioned the dieting and weight loss to them. I then did some googling and discovered that odd bleeding is sometimes a side effect of weight loss because fat cells are high in oestrogen so when they break down the body is flooded with oestrogen in short bursts and the menstrual cycle goes haywire. It took a while, but things did resolve for me over the course of a few months resulting almost immediately in the pregnancy which I lost last year. I don't know if there is a way of managing the hormones and weight loss medically but it might be worth exploring?0 -
Hello girls
Just a quick question: my partner and I went to see docs to tell him we had been trying for a year. So he takes a blood test from me, and I've now. Een called by the docs to come in and discuss the results. Does this mean there's something wrong? I thought if they were ok they would just say over the phone.
The other thing I wonder about is I have regular periods and clearblue monitor says I regularly ovulate day 13/14. Can still something be wrong with my hormones despite this?
Thanks as usual

Thanks nicki, I just showed my husband your post after I've read it, and as he put it "that's very interesting..... and hopeful"Hi Big Z. I don't recall you posting this previously, so thanks again
how you doing?
Hopefully not. It could also be to discuss that there's nothing showing on the test results, and options of what you can do from here...? When do you see him? Good luckWhattodonow wrote: »Hello girls
