Morning Everyone,
Hope you are feeling better QQ. Incidentally - I know you had the HCG shot but what did you mean by you wouldn't be able to test? (Sorry I am being thick and I am not really au fait with all the treatments).
Also whislt I'm at it with the stupid questions what is short and long protocol? And down regging? I sit at work scratching my head but I think I have worked out the abbreviations LOL:rotfl: FET took me a while though

A hcg shot will shop up in your urine for quite a few days afterwards (dependant on doseage) as a clear BFP, so any HPT taken a good few days after these shots can not be taken as a true reading, it can also have a cumulative effect if you have had a few of them, so the hcg can hang around for longer than it tehcnically should in your system.
As no-one wants a false postive when I guess QQ will have to wait a fair while longer yet til she can test and get a true positive (which is of couse what it will be)
The trigger shot for IVF/ICSI has the same effect (which nobody told me on my first IVF almost 9 years ago!! grrrr)
Hope you ladies are all ok, its almost the weekend xx2 angels in heaven :A0 -
Ahh yes that makes sense. Thanks for explaining. Thats naughty of them Lisa giving you false hope.
QQ - do you have any idea when you would be able to test?

Ahh ok, long protocol is where you downreg before you take your stimulation drugs, downregging is where you take medication (injections, tablets or a nasal spray or sometimes a combination) to put you into a temporary menopause state so that there is complete control over your cycle.
Short protocol (sometimes known as flare or flash protocol) is where you do not down reg, you simply take the stimulation drugs along with your natural cycle.
There are a few reasons for using the different protocols, I have used both but I am better on the flare, long protocol (using nasal spray) gave me horrible migraines and produced terrible quality embryos, I was getting approx 15% fertilisation, lots of eggs just rubbish quality. On the flare protocol we got to blastocycst each time, with high quality embryos to choose from.2 angels in heaven :A0 -
Thank you for clarifying Lisa. It (kind of) makes sense now.
Lisa what is your next step?Deposit savings £8,000/£25,000£14,000 by 31/12/110 -
Consultation in London at ARGC next month with a view to going again asap :-)
I have no tubes so no more ectopics, we know our immune issues and we can make good blastocysts so it is only a matter of time til one sticks, surely?!2 angels in heaven :A0 -

Fingers crossed for next one Lisa it has to be your turn. My acupunturist told me the ARGC are quite picky who they take so well done for getting in there. I was going to try that one but have decided to go with a local clinic who deal with the Lister Hospital too.

Afternoon all. Still watching and reading with interest - best of luck and fingers crossed to everyone.
So I had my meeting at the Zhai clinic this afternoon, which is on Harley Street. Dr Zhai was very nice, and said that my history painted a 'very clear picture'. It's so interesting - they look at all the western medicine results too and then use traditional Chinese medicine to take things a step further. I'm still kind of ambivalent about it all but her results are absolutely astonishing with 'no hopers' so I thought it was worth a try. Not cheap, but cheaper than a round of IVF. Not that I'm a candidate for that, really.
She said that the key is egg quality, and that because I already take medication for my various blood disorders, we know that it's not them causing the pregnancies to fail. Therefore egg quality has to be the answer. Allegedly her herbs, over a period of time, can improve that. I know, I'm sceptical too. But I have nothing to lose.0
