Can I question you all on BDing? How often do you do it around the time of ov?

I always thought that the general thought was that every day was too often, and that every other day would catch the egg fine.

Now I've googled it it seems to say that the current thinking is that every day, as long as sperm count is OK, is fine, and probably preferable. We usually do it every day but this month we tried every other day to see if it helped. What do you all do?
My doctor suggested every other day, and every day near ov, but no matter how hard DH tries, he can't do it:( Now what we do is once after AF, then wait for the scan, and aim for ov (saved for a week). We got better SA results (twice as much count, with similar motility & morphology).

    Not pg yet though:o

    Thanks toniq and quaver.

DH is fine with every day so I might go back to that if we haven't scored this month. FF put my red lines in this morning so I'm on 3DPO. Hate this waiting bit, with all the SS madness...
  • We are trying every other day this month. Usually depending on work, tiredness (sometimes an argument or 2) we might manage a couple of times in fertile period but this month we are going for it. My OH has a slightly low count so I don't think its good for him to release his swimmers everyday.

I have been doing the IC's this month but so far the second line is barely there. I think I am due to ov tomorrow but I think the line should be darker by now - is that how the IC's work - the line gets darker towards Ov? Had some EWCM but I did drink a carton of grapefruit juice at the weekend - that stuff is amazing and I actually love the taste of it.

I am on CD 13 by the way.

    Hi Sarah -

I usually OV between CD16-CD20 out of a cycle that varies between c. 27-31 days.

So we usually kick off proceedings CD10 and then every other day until CD14-15 then every day until CD20, then maybe one or two more times for luck.

    It hasn't worked!

I'm thinking of going to an 'every third day' routine from CD10-CD13, the every other day, then when I get a +ve OPK, that day and the next day.

I think maybe you do have to be lucky sometimes - they 'say' the egg survives up to 12 hours post-OV and the sperm can live for 'up to 5 days' but some sources suggest those are extremes, and in fact the window of survival for both is usually *much* shorter.

    +++++++

    CD1 for me :(
And it sounds like my op wont be brough forward :(:(
I've just got to think positive...only 3 more AF visits and I'll be back in the game :o.
But 3 more is nearly half the year gone since I was referred...rubbish!!:(:(

Regarding getting jiggy, we aim for every other day around ov but it usually ends up being a bit less frequent than that. We also do it a few times outside when I anticipate the window of opportunity to be...just in case and to keep DH happy!

    I hope Lisa is ok.

Yes, the line tends to get darker, then suddenly becomes darker than the control line:)
