Hi girls, can I ask a question for my neighbours please?

Because they both have problems they need ICSI. They tried this about 7-8 years ago and it ended in a miscarriage which was very hard on female neighbour, more so because they later found out that the other fertilised eggs had been 'disposed off'.

They are now thinking about trying again, male neighbour is very broody since my DD was born (1 year ago), female neighbour is reluctant to put herself through it all again for it not to work.

I promised I'd look for some forums for her to read through, just so she could see if anything has changed in the past few years. Specifically, the Glasgow clinic, when they were up there wasn't much bedside manner and the cubicles were grimy.

Still early days for them, they have 3 goes left. As I said, female neighbour is hesitant, she's willing to look if I send her links to forums, but she's not willing to go looking, if you know what I mean.

PM's would be appreciated if you don't want to post. Thank you!

TBH If she is hesitant and isn't willing to "go looking" then perhaps she's trying to tell others that she really doesn't want to go through IVF again ?

The words that best describe IVF are Traumatic, stressful and invasive so any woman who goes through the treatment has to be 110% committed and sure that they can deal with the outcome,as there are absolutely no guarantees of success - statistically IVF will fail for more couples that it will be successful for.

If and when she decides that she is ready to try again then she could have a look at the "fertility friends" website they have forums dedicated to areas and clinics.

I know. But she did ask me to look on her behalf, which is all I'm doing. Because she has been through it before she knows what she is facing, as much as she wants a baby, its the actual process that is putting her off. But I'm guessing that nobody who does go through IVF does it on a whim and it may be that she takes another few years to decide. From what she said, she would go through the process again if the staff at the Glasgow Royal infirmary have learned some bedside manner. I think its the lack of moral support from those who are actually treating her that is putting her off. I'll have a look at fertility friend, see if the clinic is more welcoming than before.

Can she not use a different clinic ?

    10 days till testing.
I am so fed up already with all this waiting lol.
I know its not very positive thinking but i have been spending time trying to prepare for a negative result and then it hit me how much it has to. I have no money to pay for treatment this was our nhs go. After this i will have to wait till i am debt free before i can even start saving. DFD is May 2015.

    Alamaya, get your PMA up!

I know this is probably old wife's tale, but have you considered eating pineapple to aid implantation, and putting your feet up on the wall to encourage blood flow to the uterus? Just a thought:o

Alamaya - what do you mean with 'by next week'?!!

Get thyself to a pineapple shop forthwith! Go on, skedaddle!

    +++++++++

    The things we do..

    I'm currently digesting lunch of:

Maple syrup drink (from diet-made-famous-by-Beyonce). Overdid the cayenne pepper - and then took too big a swig and it went down the wrong way. Throat fire.

    Protein shake

I'm gonna lose weight before appointment with fertility specialist on 24th. Only so much I can do in time available now - 3 weeks - so I'm all guns blazing.

The maple syrup (it's a big old flagon) was £29.99!!!!

    Chickpea - :)
Not very healthy but i did a little 3-4 week crash diet before my appointment. Lost the required weight and funnily enough even though i ate healthy from the day of that appointment i have not gained more than 3lbs.
Breakfast was 30g rice krispies and semi skimmed. Lunch was ryvitas and extra light philly and Dinner was a Youngs Ocean Pie. It was god awful but i lost about 4-5lbs a week.

Like i say not healthy but i knew i had enough time from appointment to treatment to get my body back up to scratch :)
