Hello
Hope you all don't mind me 'popping' by!
Im still TTC but i have a question for someone i work with?
She has been trying for over a year now and she hasnt received much help from the doctor, they have done what they usually do and just told her she needs to lose weight and will not help untill she does but she has been told she PCOS, so she didnt OV.
I told her ill find out ways in which she could help her OV, such as taking any tablets. Is soya isoflavones any good? What else is there?
Thanks all for your help (still 'watching' you all!!:rotfl::rotfl:)0 -
Good evening
I had my appointment with the consultant at the hospital today and while there also got the results from hubby's SA, which was all good. Although funnily 95% was abnormal but apparently anything above 4% is average. But motility and whatever else they look at, all is good. Phew....
The consultant then agreed that I'll need clomid, so gave me a prescription for that. She also gave me a prescription for something to bring on AF in case it doesn't appear by 18th Sept and also another drug to bring my sugar levels down. I forgot the reason why, I must read the leaflets again, but apparently something to do with cos I'm overweight (not obese though) and have PCOS symptoms, it has an effect on blood sugar which gives me too many male hormones which has an effect on my fertility. I think that's how it went. So anyway... I will have to take some drug to bring it down which will also help me loose some weight perhaps. Bonus!!!
So I guess I'll be on clomid soon. Here's to moodswings and hot flushes!!!
Have a good evening
Oh yeah. Excellent news Suzy!!! I hope it all goes well for you and you will get to hold your bundle of joy soon!!0 -
Chickpea - that makes 2 of us! I need to get into 'shape' by September 20th! I am still abroad, living in hotel and eating out every night, but on Monday I will be back home. Whilst in hotel, I am getting up an hour earlier and going for a run. Food - not aiding weight loss. I had to get to 30 BMI to get my referral, and that I passed now. Now, once we had our 'patient information evening' we were told I need to be BMI=29. That is extra few kg. It is 2 weeks to go.
The plan is gym every night. (It opens too late in the morning to go before work) Food - I follow Tesco diets, and they meal plan is for 1300-1400 kcal a day. Will be following the meals more or less, but trying to cut a bit more calories. Fingers crossed I can get to 78 kg (including clothes) by the date required! Last Sunday it was 81.4 kg. Told you - living in hotel for 4 weeks and eating out didn't help! (was 80kg at the beginning of July)
I think my BMI is about 31 at the mo, I haven't checked the BMI calculator for a while - not good anyway. In the next few weeks, I aim to shift some poundage by any means possible.
In the next 3 days I'm doing the AHA diet (not one designed by those 80s Scandinavian popstrels, it's the American Heart Association Diet. Totally not endorsed by either group in fact, but I did it one time and lost 10 pounds in 3 days. Mostly water loss of course, but hospital doesn't need to know that..)
I'm also taking Alli - not sure I'll stick to those. I was expecting an uncontrollable deluge of..well, treatment related side effects. Passive oil loss. You know what I mean. Instead, I'm bunged up, but completely. And ironically, looking about 3-4 months pg!
Maybe tomorrow it'll clear. Apres moi, le deluge.0 -
CD17. I OV'd CD16. We DTD cd11, 13, 15, 16 and 17. Our work here is done for this month. If it doesn't work, it's because my eggs are lousy, or my tubes are gummed with mucous or something similar, not because we timed it wrong.
+++++++++
I had the unique pleasure of a night out with my old NCT group the other night. 3 out of the six of us are pg - they were all squealing with excitement - 'oh you too, how wonderful we can be pg buddies'!
I didn't feel in the slightest annoyed, oh no.
++++++++
That's a lie. I got a little tired and emotional and ranted at anyone that'd listen. When one of them moaned about how hard it was having to get up to pee several times a night, I said 'that must be awful, I feel so sorry for you' in a really sarky manner. Like a complete and utter bitter cow. I'll be surprised if I have any friends by the time this is over.
People expect me to be permanently over the moon because I have one child. And while I love him dearly, and am thankful for him every day, it doesn't erase the 3 and a half years of torment we had to endure to get him, and the new torment we're going through now because I want another one and once again, it isn't working.
I don't think I'm being greedy. It's just so annoying when half the people I know can just click their fingers and get pg whenever they decide.
It sucks. The big one.0 -

Not very healthy but i did a little 3-4 week crash diet before my appointment. Lost the required weight and funnily enough even though i ate healthy from the day of that appointment i have not gained more than 3lbs.
Breakfast was 30g rice krispies and semi skimmed. Lunch was ryvitas and extra light philly and Dinner was a Youngs Ocean Pie. It was god awful but i lost about 4-5lbs a week.
Like i say not healthy but i knew i had enough time from appointment to treatment to get my body back up to scratch
How many crispbreads and how much Philly E light? The world needs to know. Purely in the interests of science, you understand.0 -
I am just going through my second attempt at ICSI and this is my last free attempt on the NHS so I am praying it will work. Anybody who wants a baby that badly will go through with IVF/ICSI. The first attempt is hard to deal with but you just have to pick yourself up and brush yourself off ready for round two.
Maybe a different clinic will help but maybe as she had it a long time go the hospital may have improved together with the treatment, as success rates have been going up through the years. I have been on the fertility friends website but find this one much more friendly and helpful.
Hope your friend can join us if she decides to go for treatment again. We will make her feel welcome and hopefully support her through this emotional time - as we are all there one way or another.
Thank you. The first time she did get pregnant, then miscarried. It wasn't that, that was bad, I think it was when she was told her other fertilised eggs had been 'disposed off' (several were fertilised, 2 implanted and they should have been stored but it was an admin error) . That triggered a breakdown and she doesn't want that to happen again.
But, I've got a list of sites for her to look at, and I've looked into the clinic, it's still GRI for her. However the closer one is looking to expand (I'm studying biology at college and the tutor mentioned it because embryology is one of the areas I'm interested in) possibly in the next 2 years, to offer a larger range of treatments and I'd guess that ICSI will be offered.
Very best of luck for you, is it still *sticky bean vibes* or have you got a special one?0 -

Hi Lauralou! How are you?
As for your friend, losing a bit of weight (10%?) might be enough to trigger ovulation. Soy Isoflavones are like Clomid. It may be a good idea for her to try them. I took 120mg/night on CD3-7. Don't know how it went as I went to a doctor, and was told off, and was given nothisterone to force start AF, then Clomid:p
Good luck for your friend:)
Kairi, was it Metformin for lowering sugar levels, provera or nothisterone to start AF?
Chickpea, you seemed to have timed well, fingers crossed:)0
