I have had decaff tea and coffee for years, as caffeine in anything other than tiny doses makes me very ill, gives me the shakes, headaches and nausea. After my last IVF EC I was very very bloated and was advsed to have peppermint tea as a relief (while waiting to go to blastocyst) and I couldn't even sip it, the smell made me heave so have had to stick to standard but decaff tea.
As for alcohol I drink on weekends normally as the chances of a natural conception are teenie teenie tiny for us, of course if it did happen i'd be off any alcohol like shot. During treatment however I stop totally, full stop. Have had no alcohol since Jan 5th this year and hope for it to stay that way.
FET planning appointment next Tuesday and all the drugs arrive this week, not looking forward to all the injections :-(
Anyone else injected clexane, i've heard that it is very painful ((cry))

LL glad to see you back on the TTC bus.
Hoping for a bright week for everyone.

Hey Lisawood, I'm an old hand at Clexane injections, sadly. Can I ask what you're taking it for? I take mine for two different blood clotting conditions. After much trial and error I can report that:

    1. The fear is much worse than the actual injection. On my first ever one I literally sat there for about 40 minutes, sweating, hovering the needle over my stomach. It seemed so very counter intuitive to be stabbing myself in the stomach when I was pregnant!
    2. The best way is to jab the needle in, inject slowly, hold the needle there for a few seconds, then when you withdraw press hard (don't rub) with a cotton wool ball. I used to get terrible bruises before i did this - lots of info online tells you not to press on the injection site but ignore it. it's the only way to stop the bruising. That's why you always get the site pressed by the nurse/doctor after any injection you have in hospital.
    3. While you'll always have a moment of 'argh!' before injecting, it does get better.
    4. Sometimes it stings, but mostly it goes in without any feeling. I never worked out what I'd done on the stinging ones, maybe just hit a nerve or something?

It's really not that bad. The thing that made me realise I needed to woman up and get on wiht it was when I realised my 72-year-old mother had injected herself with Clexane every morning for six months after her hip replacement op and made not a jot of fuss about it. Certainly brought me down to size! :o

    Thanks ladies.
I have severe belenophobia so as you can imagine IVF is a nightmare, but this is our 6th attempt (4 IVF and 2 FET) and on the last treatment I had 2 and sometimes 3 injections a day because I also have gestone injections too.
The injections get no easier for me at all, each one can take hubby or my SIL upto 30 mins to do because of my sheer terror, its nothing to do with pain, I just can't sit still and let it happen, it's pure fear that I can not change ho hum.
I will be taking Clexane as I have been diagnosed with MTHFR which is partly a clotting disorder so need the Clexane to counteract it, this will be the first treatment after being diagnosed with this issue so who knows, 6th time lucky?
Thanks Sarahs999 for the info. I'll pass it on :-)

  • Good luck everyone with all the treatments going on. If you scratch the site that you are going to inject in just before sticking in the needle, it should stop the ones that you feel - apparently it confuses the nerves. I found it helped, anyway. I think most of them go into the flesh rather than muscle, so you need to pinch the area before injecting. I found it better if I left the needle in for a little bit before taking it out iyswim.

  • Where is everyone?

Good news here. AF finally arrived so 27 day cycle this month - hopefully back to normal. And ........ latest smear was clear!! So, another smear and MRI in 3 months and see how we go. So cautiously optimistic! But anyway, another 3 months of trying. Yipee!

Hope everyone is well - lilo

Lilo - great news!!! It is not nice of AF to show up, but at least you can hope to be back to normality...

I am still here, lurking. I am jumping from being pessimistic to overly optimistic this month. I keep seeing 7/11 everywhere around for strange reason (this would be EDD if I got that miracle). Oh, wish the time went faster and I would know one way or the other... I need to get my mind busy by something else, or I will go crazy!

We are taking our cat tonight to vets for his annual boosters, so we are going to have a concert in the car and in the waiting room - he hates going (being tricked/forced/pushed) into his carrier.
