With so many people not making an effort of any kind it is great that you have done this, it just shows what a little thought and effort can do.

I was feeling guilty about not making my third donation last year so I was determined to get this one! And I will have a bikkie for younot that i need an excuse!
By the way, do you know if you can make advance appointments? Was thinking it would save time and me forgetting if I could book the next one while I was there.
PS Well done pinkdiamond, hope its the first of many visits :TDFW Nerd no 239.....Last Personal Debt paid off Nov 2012!

Well, the deed is done. Very impressed with the Aberdeen Transfusion Centre! Clean, comfortable, nurses are lovely. Couch was so comfy I almost went to sleep!
AND I was able to book my next appointment so no chance of forgetting next time......... 23rd April at 12.10.DFW Nerd no 239.....Last Personal Debt paid off Nov 2012!

Well done poppy, you might even be able to squeeze in 4 visits this year.
I envy your comfy couch, the chairs that we have in Ninewells in Dundee for the platelet donors are not that great and I am usually sat, sitting in one for 90 minutes.
Its great that you are able to book an appointment so far ahead at a time that will suit you. When I book my next appointment I also get a parking pass for an area of the car park that is reserved for platelet donors, it saves me hunting around the huge car park looking for a space and has the added bonus of being quite close to the entrance, particularly useful when the weather is foul.0 -
Well I've been thinking about giving blood for a while and my Dad has been doing it for years regularly. So went online to get some more details, as there is a blood bank opposite work which is perfect.
But because I'm homosexual the website states that I can't give blood. I think that is really bad prejudice against some gay people, who are extremly safe, clean and healthy and want to help out - but instead they pigeonhole us all and just say you're high risk so no.!.0 -
My Dad was taken into hospital on Wednesday night. He had a massive perforated ulcer & a vein which opened in his gullet. We were told to expect the worst because he had lost so much blood & was in severe shock. He made it due to 3 blood transfusions during the night. This undoubtedly saved his life & I'm so very grateful, he so nearly died.nothing to see here, move along...0
