How come you don't meet the criteria?

I started donating after being in a serious car crash. My fella gave along for moral support and discovered he was an ?Rhesus negative which app is pretty rare.
I mentioned to the nurse I often feel ill after donating and she said if it continues I can't donate - will keep my mouth shut next time!
Not desperately poorly, I just usually need a lie down afterwards. Am only a skinny minny though so perhaps I've got less blood sloshing about.
Wor lad is 19 stone, donates a pint in about five minutes, then eats all the biscuits while I'm squeezing it out a drop at a time.DEBT FREE! Sep '08/£9,800 in Oct '06 :beer:0 -
Where I live they are only on weekdays and end at 6.30pm
In my area the last appointment in 7p.m.
Have you checked the time recently?
Just a suggestion in case they've changed since you last looked.I don't think it's surprising that blood donations are down. Most people are working, many are commuting
Most people I know aren't still working or commuting at 7.
I think most companies would let you take a long lunch and make up any extra time later especially if they knew it was for a good cause.
Obviously it's difficult if you work on a checkout or serve people but for people that work in an office it should be possible to alter their hours a little.
I'm sure not all bosses are ogres.
I accept that for a few it may be next to impossible but for many it isn't.0 -

I went on the site yesterday and answered the questions, all went well till the serious illness surgery/medication question.Very disappointing. I don't understand why more people don't give blood. I had a needle phobia til 18 months ago when I became ill and had 100's of injections/tests and drips. If it is mainly a needle phobia my advice to people is to just do it0 -
I know it is difficult for most working people to find the time in their busy day to visit a donor session but if you are able to find the time somehow it is definitly worth the effort. You could check and see if there is somewhere to donate before you make your journey home from work, perhaps the local hospital has a donor suite.
Over 200 of my donations have been made at a location 25 miles from where I live and for the most part I have either had to take time off work or, as I do at the moment, I re-arrange my working hours around my trips to the donor centre.
At one place of employment I was given the time off to go even though I was going every 3 weeks. I discovered that my employers son had required a transfusion when he was ill and he had seen my donations as a chance to give something back as he was disqualified from donating himself.0 -

I take it you have a serios op?Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.0 -
I take it you have a serios op?
I don't think you can give blood if you've received it in recent years (can't remeber the time but it might be the last 10 years).
I believe this is because of CJD.
If it's not then it's definitely because there's a risk of passing on something that wasn't tested for during that period.0
