WW from what I understand is 'week wait' as in 2ww, the 2 weeks between ov and when you can test/AF dueUpdating soon...0 -
How long should you wait before trying for a baby after you've had a miscarriage? I was so paranoid that something was going to go wrong the first time that I'm not sure I'm going to be able to keep myself sane the 2nd time around? Does anyone have any useful tips or advice! I can't seem to think about anything else at the moment! xx

Medically, unless you've been told otherwise, there's no need to wait at all. Some women get their BFP before they have another AF and they find it helps with their healing. For me I had to wait a bit and even now I don't think I'll be able to relax and enjoy the pg until I'm at least over the point where I mc'd last time (((hugs)))Updating soon...0 -
Thanks courgette, It's really hard isn't it! I haven't stopped bleeding yet from the op so it won't be any time soon that we start trying again! Are you trying now, or will you wait until after the wedding? Have you just had the one mc, and how many weeks were you, i hope you don't mind me asking? I wouldn't wish this upon my worst enemy but it is quite comforting to know others who have been through the same, I have to go back to work tomorrow but not sure if I want to!!

Skintscotslass we haven't actually booked our hotel room for the Edinburgh night (30th Oct). We were just planning cheap n cheerful (eg Travelodge) but is there anywhere you'd recommend? Any places to vist too that you think would be good? Will it also be half term there or are the dates different for Scotland (I know you go back much earlier)
Do you know, there are so many new travelodges that seem to have sprung up all over the city? I was just thinking that to myself on the bus home from work on Tuesday. Personally I would prefer Edinburgh Central. It is bang slap in the middle of the old city centre. Although its a newish building, everything around is practically medieval! So its a good base to explore the High Street/Royal Mile. Shandwick Place also has a great location but its a bit of a shabby street. Friends of mine stayed at West End, it used to be a posh 5 star hotel! They liked it, but I would go for Learmonth as its a lovely area.
Edinburgh Castle is usually a top attraction, but costs £12 each. We used to get free admissions through my work, but unfortunately not any more or I would have got you a passI would recommend you get the tourist bus, here is the linky http://www.edinburghtour.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=104&Itemid=129 I cant find out how much it costs! It will give you the bearings of the city. Also, there are a lot of 'spooky' type tours. I'd recommend Mary King's Close, I think its run by the council, rather than the others which are all private. If you are a fan of Rebus, you can do a Rebus tour.
I also love the Royal Botanic Gardens of Edinburgh. And its free! It has such a beautiful atmosphere. Its not a public park and the rules are quite strict, like no dog walking. I used to go there 3 times a week in my lunch break, just to chill and re-charge my batteries.
There are also lots of museums and galleries which are free...some will have an admission charge for certain exhibitions. I guess it depends what you and DH like to do.
Half term will be over, our schools start tomorrow and go back on 27 October, but the vast majority of schools in our area have a half day on Friday. I dont know if that will have an effect on kids mooching around the city centre?
Hope that helps and if there's anything else, just askxx

Yes, we're trying again now. In my head I really wanted to wait til after the wedding but it got to the point where I couldn't actually swallow the pill anymore, it was making me gag, as ridiculous as that sounds. So I wondered why I was actually waiting since it was causing me so much pain so stopped taking the pill again. I could do an early test from about Tuesday but think I'll hang on a few days. The most annoying this is AF is due next weekend (and if you've been reading carefully you'll know I get married next weekend :D!) - AF on my wedding day is my absolute worst nightmare. Saying that though, I'm not sure I could handle a wedding and a BFP in one day so we'll see what happens.
I was 7 weeks when I mc'd. I'd started bleeding (spotting) the Thursday before, went to the drs who referred me to the EPU for a scan on the Saturday morning. In the meantime the bleeding completely stopped, nausea stepped up another gear if that was possible and it felt like everything was gonna be fine and the spotting was just a bit of a scare. Had the scan, the nurse found a bit of a mess really. Two pregnancy sacs, one was completely empty and looked as though it had stopped growing a week previously, the 2nd pg sac had two babies in but only one with a heartbeat. Nurse wasn't worried about the no heartbeat s it was still only 5 1/2 weeks from conception. We came out laughing our heads off, so relieved that everything was fine. We phoned our families we were that excited about the possibilty of twins.
On the Sunday I started bleeding again then on the Monday morning I felt something come away and when I went to the loo a dark purple blob fell out. Hoped that it was either the empty sac, or the baby without the heartbeat, or both. Nausea continued to be bad although not as bad as it had been. Went back to the EPU on the Friday, still had a BFP but when they scanned everything was gone. It was awful actually and I even made her do an internal scan just to check the baby wasn't hiding or something.
Sorry, bit long that but it really was one of the worst things I've ever been through, and just that dreadful feeling of emptiness afterwards

Hi Jenny,
I think everyone is different as to how long they need/want to wait after an mc, I had my first mc in April, and had one cycle before my second bfp, apparently you are more fertile in the 3 months following an mc, unfortunately I mc'd a second time in August, bothe times I was 9 weeks, but the foetus only measured 6 weeks, they were both mmc. I've had one cycle since the last mc and I'm now in the 2ww, due to test next week-end, I know that when I get another bfp, I will not relax until after 12weeks (actually probably not until after the baby is born - then you are onto a whole new set of worries!) Like Courgette said some people find it part of the healing process to start trying again quickly.0 -

Was the 2nd time as painful as the 1st? I have so much admiration for you, you just seem to be getting on with it, I suppose the want for a baby outweighs the fear of losing another! How long was it after your operations that you stopped bleeding, I had the ERPC aweek ago and I'm still bleeding! xxMarried June 26th 2009
