redstar, i understand, but it is worth knowing where to look for support, your local cab will be able to direct you to the right people. If there is nothing wrong with how you have been working then you should fight it. Redundancy is more difficult, but jacq mentioned that they would fire anyone who announced they were pregnant, so just letting her know that this is not allowed.

Right back to happy thoughts :)

I work for the NHS and get 6 months full pay, then 3 months reduced pay and 3 months no pay too. I have been having problems at my work with my manager recently though, she's quite new to the post and I was promoted a year ago and since the star of the year she says I haven't been doing what I should be, I manage 14 other members of staff who are all very happy with me!! So I took he plunge and applied for another job, I have an interview next week, it's still with the NHS and in the same board so I would not lose my maternity benefits, oh and it's one band higher than I'm currently on with less pressure and no staff to manage!

HMMM, Thanks LL, I know it's not allowed but it's one of those things that's really hard to prove. I'm pretty sure (niave??) that they wouldn't sack me but might be really disappointed (who cares?) but if they find a way round it the fight could be too much stress. My husband worked a job he hated, they wanted to get rid of him so put him up on disciplinary after disciplinary on trumped up allegations and in the end he had to leave cos he was scared he was going to get sacked then wouldn't be able to get a job after - better to say you left than were sacked right?
Anyway this went on from when DS was about 6 weeks old for nearly a year. He saw a solicitor who said he had a good case but they had been 'following the rules' it was hard to prove and as soon as he left and found a new job the relief was so overwhelming we didn't want to keep carrying the stress around with us so decided to let it go (plus I was still working for the same company:eek:0
Anyway he is happy now, I am happy for the moment so back to happy thoughts - the sunshine is great here too and I am looking forward to having my sandwiches outside with a book that has just got very interesting .... I love to read!!!

Hey confuzzled tell me about it - I am so bored at work at the moment, really having trouble motivating myself. Crane sales looking grim and not enough work to keep me busy. Would rather be run off my feet!!

I get four weeks at full pay, two weeks at 90 per cent pay, 12 weeks at half pay plus statutory maternity pay, eight weeks' statutory maternity pay, and 26 weeks of unpaid leave. That means I could realistically have 6 months off - there is no way we could go down to me being on unpaid leave unfortunately. Even the stat pay would be a push.

I guess it's not bad but more than one month at full pay would make life slightly easier.

Oh and cbfm turned up this morning....but I'm on CD 7!!! :(

Are you sure? SMP is for 39 weeks!!!! So, if you company doesn't even pay SMP after week 26, they are breaking the law!

"If you qualify for SMP, it is paid:
    • for the first six weeks at 90 per cent of your average gross weekly earnings with no upper limit
    • for the remaining 33 weeks at the lower of either the standard rate of £123.06, or 90 per cent of your average gross weekly earnings"
I still don't know what is the policy at my company - have been here for over a year so far, but I am pretty sure from some spinets that it is just basic SMP, with nothing else.

(Oh, and I am not usually posting on this board anymore, as it is taking us a while, but I am ttc for nearly 2 years now..., in which I changed jobs and moved to a completely different part of the country)
