got-it-spend-it wrote: »BTW has anyone seen that Swine flu tips for Mothers to be has made it onto the front page of the BBC website? Not really anything new in there though- except to avoid crowded places which is easier said than done when you work with the public!
I was just about to come on to post because the Mail On Sunday claims the government has updated its advice and is telling pregnant women not to travel on public transport. Though I've just been on the NHS website and I can't see that anywhere. Not sure how I'm going to get around for the next 10 weeks if this is the case, as I'm now getting so sore and big that driving is getting very hard, and am not sure how much longer I'll be safe to drive as a result, and besides which living in Central London, parking and the congestion charge make travel by car quite difficult. I did drive right up to the end in my last two pregnancies so I know that you don't always have to stop in the last tri by the way, but I feel that I'm going to need to at some point due to the pain in my pelvis making it hard to do things like an emergency stop if needed.0 -
What the BBC article conspicuously fails to mention is that the new mother and the baby who died of swine flu - as well as most of the others - were already immunocompromised with serious underlying health problems. I think it's such irresponsible journalism.
The Times is saying that updated NHS guidelines will be released later today, and will suggest that pregnant women who normally use public transport during rush hour should leave earlier or later so they're not mashed up against the unhygienic masses, but should stay home wherever possible. It also says that the majority of pregnant women will only get a mild flu and should be fine within a week.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Just heard a report on the radio about the 'updated' guidelines, and noticed that they failed to mention the underlying health conditions of the mother that died.
Nicki- it must be hard to avoid public transport being in Central London .:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
Oh goodness, yeah, just seen the pregnant women bbc advice! Was thinking along the same lines of it being impossible to avoid crowds!
I haven't caught up properly yet,Im sorry, hope everyones ok,that is my next job.
Hubbys in a mood with me cos Ive changed my mind about the icandy cherry pram we bought for baby last month. Theres nothing wrong with it, Ive just seen one I think I like better. Im so frustrated Ive changed my mind actually!! The one Ive had my head turned by is the Mamas & Papas ultima MPX. Its second hand (near where I live) but in immaculate condition with loads of extras. Theres the chassis, carrycot, pushchair seat unit, car seat with raincover, raincover for the pram/pushchair bits, a sun parasol, and a buggy board (which we won't need so will sell on) and a surefix base for the carseat.
Ive read loads of reviews on the icandy and alot of them say that if you have a big baby they outgrow the carrycot really quick, and you can't put baby in the pushchair bit of it untill 6months cos it doesn't lay flat. My last baby was 8lb 13.5 so Im under no illusion that I;ll be having a baby under 8lbs and Im thinking he will outgrow the carrycot but won't be able to go into the pushchair! The M&P's carrycot is apparantly bigger but reviews say bulky and takes up loads of boot space even in a car with a large boot. Weve got a Peugot 307, so not the biggest of boots!! Arggggggghhhhh what do I do?! Anyone anything to say on these prams? Im going round to see it this aft, have a real good look at it before I make a decision but would appreciate any advice offeredlove my little man he is amazing :j0 -

Hi to Hopalong sorry to hear about your OH's job but hope you can still look forward to your little one coming along.
Fitzio - Apple and blackberry crumble is my favourite!!! Closely followed by cheesecake I must add!

SM - Yes I have just requested to join the FB group, my initials are SW, which incidentally always confuses me when someone is replying to SuzyWuzy as I see my initials and think they are talking to me!!!! lol
I'm tired today. Was out for my friend's hen night last night. Quite a civilised affair at Jongleurs but the little bit of dancing in the bar afterwards really wore me out!! I was so happy to get home and into bed. I'm getting old!!!!!
My hen night next week though which I'm really looking forward to. My sister has organised something pregnancy friendly which is really nice. Dinner then a surprise afterwards, and nobody's allowed to get drunk!0 -
Helen, why not go and ask to see if you can test the M&P buggy in the boot of your car and make a decision from there? If you can return the original pushchair nothing's lost and you don't have the awkward period where the baby's too big for the carrycot and too small for the seat.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

You're not getting old, you're just pregnant! I could party with the best of them but am now seriously clock watching by 10pm!
