Trying to catch up with everything this week. For once actually feeling maternal now seeing all the new babies - congrats to Tia and I know I've missed some, I am soooooooooo sorry! Maybe because I'm now 24 weeks it feels more real?!jillie1974 wrote: »170/90... i'd have been at the hospital with that one!! did they take it a couple of times?

Right back to catching up...0 -
Congrats on being 24 weeks, always! I'm 22+6 so not far, and gradually and scarily it's getting real
Also, after speaking to my best mate who threw loads of ideas at me, i've realised i don't like ANY girls names. None. I think i may have a problem there :rotfl:0 -
Found a moses basket I actually like!!! I know it might be a bit plain for somepeople but find all the frilly ones a bit too much, and not just because I have a blue bump!
http://www.johnlewis.com/230397510/Product.aspx whaddya think?
Now all I need to do is get the stand - bit silly paying 30 quid for one me thinks, so ebay it is! We have a donated cot so need to buy the mattress but I don't know what sort to get - I'd like a natural one as possible, any ideas where to start looking? My colleague who is giving us the cot said it's a standard size but I will check on Sunday when we can pick it up.
More importantly, I have to ring the estate agent to up the offer on the house we found but fingers crossed that should seal it. OMG after 10 years of 1 bedroom London flats actually might have a house and my little boy will have his own bedroom and a garden to play in :j0 -
Umm, good job you mentioned that Harley, I was told about the half days by my HR department but looking on the department for work and pensions website it says even doing 1/2 an hour counts as a full KIT day, bit annoying as work would probably only pay me for 1/2 an hour. Think I will pass the link to them and see what they say. Link here if anyone wants it.
While finding that out I also found out that SMP can start on any day of the week. I'd recently seen on here that SMP had to start on a Sunday but that was changed in 2007.
Hope everything is going well for Suzy.
Jenny - they have been discussing this on the parent thread in the last day or so, might be worth you taking a look. It worried me this morning as they were saying that your company don't actually have to pay you more than SMP for a KIT day:eek:, though I can't imagine many people doing it for nothing. I checked your link and it says the following:
For any KIT days that you work under your contract of service for the employer paying you SMP, your employer must pay you the SMP due for that week as a minimum. Any contractual payment for the work done as a KIT day, will depend on the agreement between you and your employer.
I've never moved so quick to get all my paperwork out, but mine does say it will pay me at my 'normal daily rate for each KIT day without losing SMP'.
I would highly recommend that you just double check that your company will pay you as I'd hate to see you go in, pay child care, etc, all for no extra money.

Just quickly logging on - only managing to keep up with the thread - struggling to find the time to post atm (trying so hard to get the house sorted - regretting thinking it was a good idea to swap the kids bedrooms about so late on in pregnancy - anyway)
32b - Complan is like a meal in a drink full of lots of vits/nutrients - you can mix with milk or water and there are loads of flavours - was on special offer in boots and tesco (not sure if still running) I saw it in asda at 3am the other night  I had really bad sickness with dd1 and started using them back then... also great when b/f as it only takes a min to make up until you can find the time for proper food... which if there are other kids to look after usually means you are last on the list!
Re late term movements - I am 37wks+ and spud starts dancing around midnight to 4am *lol* big movements no chance of any sleep... during the day it is not so bad but sometimes a loud noise will start things off.
Anyway kids are away for the weekend so I can run into town and pick up antibiotics (I just noticed how much my gums have receeded (sp) it hurts to eat anything atm and wisdom tooth is causing pain just for good measure - at least bubs is taking everything they need... So I have the dentist on Monday.
Cot arrived this morning and I have just about everything the other 3 need for going back to school :j
gtg will check back for news later hugs, hellos, and easy birth dust for Suzy x0 -
Good luck Always that's great news!!

I know I'm not pregnant anymore but still lurk here sometimes...
Just wanted to say this is the moses basket I have, borrowed from my sister so I didn't buy it - and just as well as I'm not impressed.
The hood does not stay up, I think it's more for looks as it's not functional, the screws that tighten to attach it to the actual basket always work loose and I've not managed to have the hood stay up for longer than a minute or so. This is particularly annoying as I need one with a hood that works to block light out sometimes.
Also, the waffley liner is elasticated round the top where it folds over the top onto the outside of the basket, and it's always popping off at the foot end of the basket whenever I put baby into the basket as it seems slightly too small. This bit then folds inside the bottom end of the basket and baby gets his feet caught up in it when kicking. Now he's bit stronger it also pops off and falls inside from the kicking motion as well as when I lower him in. It's not too much hassle to stretch it back over and put it back in place but it's just annoying as it happens every time I touch the basket to put him in, get him out etc and when he's in it.
Apart from that, it functions very well as a moses basket, although I'm glad I didn't actually spend money to get it.0 -

back from my lunch! hour and a half - not bad going!
managed not to get upset!
Girls got me a Humprheys Corner Box (like the Johnsons one) and filled it with goodies for baby, got a lovely blue outfit, hooded towels in blue.
and for me............................
Pink Champagne, a toiletries bag in shocking pink with toiletries for me inside - apparently for me to 'wash my bits' before I go in :rotfl:
They are a great bunch of girls - the girl that bought the stuff has very expensive taste so if someone else had gone they probably could have got a lot more for the money they collected but I won't be complaining when I'm drinking the Champagne!
My boss been on the phone again saying how upset she is especially cos she's missed today. I feel quite sad but also relieved I'm going.
Just waiting for directors to come and see me now!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Never look at the parent thread - too scary!
I've apparently opened a can of worms for my HR advisor! Not many people have been taking KIT days and they have never gone over 10 so when someone has been in they have been paid for a full days work (at that persons normal daily rate) however many hours they did! But in talking to her superior she has found out she should only be paying for the hours worked even though it's still counted as one full KIT day out of the 10 allowed. She is going to look into it more and let me know.Mum to DD born Oct 2009
