Thanks Glam. I will check out some car boots and have been browsing ebay already although not bid on anything yet. We have to pay off the final bit of the wedding next week so trying not to buy anyhting til that's done!! Plus while we are on honeymoon OH will have no wage coming in at all (self employed so no holiday pay or anything) so we need to account for having 3 weeks wages not coming then too and leave enough money in the bank to cover bills while we are away.
We have both been rubbish with money in the past and have large debts which we are slowly paying paying off. Neither of us are on amazing wages (only around £30k between us) so just paying bills & debts etc and general living is a stretch enough without a baby or a wage cut!!!
Plus my work have announced a pay freeze due the current economic climate so I can't even count on that now! I need to win the lotto!!!

Thanks for that Harley I'll ask when I'm next at the Dr's.
As for your mobile, how old is your friend's little boy (as in how much longer would his be suitable)? Would your friend consider loaning / selling / giving his one to you once he no longer needs it? I know you mentioned earlier you didn't really want second hand but maybe as it's your friend's you'd be happier as you know the history of it?0 -
Hi Jillie
Yes, have been busy handing over to the two new boys in my team (I LOVE delegating) I've lurked (loved all the baby pics!) but haven't been able to keep up
Great that the thread's got chatty again though!
I am seriously ready to stop work, having thought I'd want to go on to the bitter end. Now the boys are here I just want to gently ease out of all the office business and start some proper nesting. My ankles have suddenly swollen (having been fine up to 34 wks) so think my body is telling me to start taking things a bit easier (or at least that's what I say it's saying!!)
Just got the final prep for the home birth to do (old sheets, shower curtain, re-arrange living room). Am having some reflexology to prepare for birth too (am a natural sceptic but my 1st session was brilliant) and starting to get together with NCT girls for tea and cakes - yay!
Can't wait to meet Cub. She is VERY active btw - is anyone else at my stage finding that? i thought we were supposed to be feeling less movement now the bubs are so cramped?! She particularly liked the reflexology lolMFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!

Yay my mothercare maternity leggings just got here from eBay. Cost about a fiver inc postage and they're like brand new, not a single bobble/click in sight
I should really try to venture away from leggings, it's not even like my legs are suitable for them, but they're too comfy0 -
Yes, exactly Jillie! We like watching bump-cam cos the movements are so funny! But there's lots of them. cub is head down but seems to like rolling from side to side or shoving some part of herself up under my ribs.MFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!

He is 8 months but is still loving it. I asked her if she could remember where she got it as I was after one but she couldn't, and didn't offer to sell or lend it, though she was offering clothing and sleeping bags so from that I assumed that he hadn't finished with it. Just looked on ebay but nothing there that is quite right.
I don't mind having 2nd hand things when I know the origin, but for something baby is likely to try and eat I would rather know where it came from. And if friends babies are anything to go by they try to eat pretty much everything.
It won't kill me to wait, it's just a shame as I had a code for 15% discount until end of August for Jo Jo which, with cashback, would have made it just over £30.
Thanks for the suggestions though.
Welcome back ML. My feet have started swelling too and walking is starting to get difficult after a while, so you are not alone.
2 of my friends have said that their feet never returned to their original size, does anyone else have any experience of this? I'll be gutted if I can't get back into my sexy shoes. And my winter boots are pretty tight too, it'll cost me a fortune to replace them all.

STOPTOBER CHALLANGE ... here we go !!0 -
Sorry, still catching up in stages. Had visit and phone call since mum and dad left.
I think with the KIT days each day (hour/half day/whatever) counts as one day. So if you go in for a 2 hour meeting then go home again that counts as a KIT day. Its not 10 x 8 hours to be divided up however you like, its 10 separate days, regardless of how many hours you do in that day. God, that sounds really awkward, I hope you understand what I mean. This is a government thing too, so I'm guessing that rule would be nationwide and not just my company.
xxx
Umm, good job you mentioned that Harley, I was told about the half days by my HR department but looking on the department for work and pensions website it says even doing 1/2 an hour counts as a full KIT day, bit annoying as work would probably only pay me for 1/2 an hour. Think I will pass the link to them and see what they say. Link here if anyone wants it.
While finding that out I also found out that SMP can start on any day of the week. I'd recently seen on here that SMP had to start on a Sunday but that was changed in 2007.
Hope everything is going well for Suzy.Mum to DD born Oct 2009
