truely bizarre boo. That would take up most of the main wall in my little ones nursery. Isn't 5 a bit young to have uncontrolled access to a TV. Or am I just a bit old fashioned in not wanting bubs to see anything of a scary or disturbing nature?
Thats how I feel Harley. I dont want my belly monkey watching just anything and how do they monitor that its off and the little ones sleeping at night not just waking up and thinking 'oh whats on tv' rather than rolling over and nodding back off. Apparently she had to have it because both her older brothers have one each too (their 7 & 9) and she thought she'd have to wait until christmas before she'd get it! And been all of oh, 5 and a half!!!!!!Belly Monkey arrived 19.11.09 :j0 -
I think I was 12 before I got a tv in my room when I was a kid. What is wrong with a family watching tv together or playing and not watching a tv at all.
I know it's a long time since I was a kid but surely things haven't changed that much. Or is that just what people with no imagination do with their children?
It makes me really angry, why have them in the first place if you are just going to send them to their rooms to watch tv on their own. I waited so long to have this little one, I am going to make the most of every minute. There will be plenty of time later when its just not cool to spend time with mum, I'm pretty sure though, that at 5 I will still want her to be doing interesting things with me and would be absolutely gutted if she would rather be on her own in her room.Cross Stitch Challenge member 11 - May challenge well under way
Very proud mummy to Gorgeous baby girl - 29/09/09 :j
Thanks to all who directed me to Quidco - £289.30 since Nov 09 :beer:0 -
Some one seems to be playing keep up with the jones's if you ask me to buy a child of 5 a 40" flat screen tv for their room i havent even got one of those for my living room. Oh well we can all live sound in the knowledge that whilst our bundles of joy will be happy to recieve a barbie or an action man they will have to fork out thousands each year to keep their little cherub happy now they have set the president :-) xx
on a similar note did any one see the programme where they take a family and they have to live how their parents were bought up it was very interesting the episode i saw she had 4 kids eldest used to shut himself in his room and not be seen apart from meal times middle two would keep each other company but that was usually watching tv and the youngest who was only 3 had his own playstation with every game under the sun. i was appauled when i saw it my son didnt even know what a playstation was at that age. they both have a wii tyo share now but only ever gets switched on once in a blue moon normally when the weather is bad and they cant be outside playing !!!:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -

are you all qualified now or have you more studies to do?
Another 4 years, but I can now progress to the next course. And I think I did good given the pregnancy and the fact that the higher itself was kinda crammed in at the last minute! Sorry the bp is up, is it a lot or just a bit? Mine is way down at 114/72! :j
WM, I had those with the boys, they work great! Might try the hot choc, although for tonight I have the antacid for the section to take anyway... might have a hot choc now it's burning at the moment. Side effect of teh steroids and the itchy skin too, which is calming down now.
MNS, up at 7.30am for 8.30am theatre! Early rise but I guess I'll sleep at night!
Karen, I was like that, but then I got the gestational diabetes diagnosis. One thing though, it was the chocolate giving my heartburn, it only happened while I was eating chocolate and sweets.
Boogellyboo, the boys have one of those small LCD TV/DVD combos (£115). No way would they get a 40inch! I feel bad enough about them even having a TV!
August and September is the most common birthdays, all the festivities over Christmas and new years! :rotfl:
Boys are off to stay at MIL after dinner tonight, I've done a bit of the ironing pile and kinda just wanting time to speed up now! Went into town and icked up a new camera from Argos this one it's not bad for the price, going to upload the pictures we took in the coffee shop an dsee what they are like. Better than our old one anyway! We also had lunch, I managed half a baked potato with some cheese and home-made sun dried cherry tomatoes. mmm. Going to heat up some soup, I'm hungry again. And MIL has been told about visiting tooand she didn't even whinge!

I didnt have a tv in my room until I was a teenager and even then it was a black and white that I won at bingo in wales! I was there doing a dancing competition and ended up coming back with a tv!Belly Monkey arrived 19.11.09 :j0

Good afternoon all,
Welcome to the September club Europa! There are loads of us!!
Boogelly - that is absolutely mental. My eyes were popping out of my head reading about that TV. I find it really hard to believe that anyone would buy a 40" TV for any kids bedroom never mind a 5 year old. Must be a case of kids being so spoiled that they are running out of things to buy because they already have everything. Definitely not how I would be doing things, it's crazy!! My living room is pretty big, and I thought a 40" was too big for it so we have a 37"!
I have been lurking quietly and went for a wee snooze as I felt I was posting a bit too much this week. Must be driving you all mad. Guess it's because I have no-one to talk to being stuck in the house. Think I will be back to work tomorrow though as my leg is feeling much better. Just limping a little bit now.
Going to wash some baby clothes. I have been scared by the amount of washing that some of you seem to be doing, but when I look, I think I could probably do all my baby clothes in one load! But then I have only bought neutral basics and not lots from car boot sales etc - I assume some people have enough to last a year!
I am trying to convince myself that I have enough.

Majority of my washing isnt for new baby but from the existing kids my washer never stops i havent even started on the baby stuff yet. why cant kids be kids i was quite happy in my mud stained jeans for days until my mother would forcably remove them for washing now it seems they are all frightened of a bit of dirt. Bring back mud pies and playing with worms i say !!!! :rotfl::rotfl::jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

The kids i used to babysit for had tv's bought by grandma (even though mum had told her not too ) so she didn't tune them in to anything except the sky multiroom thing that was kept downstairs so al they could watch was cartoon network0 -
Ive just been offered a pile of baby stuff really cheap, £45 for 154 items including snow suits, babygrows, full outfits etc all newborn and 0-3 months. Thats about 30p each I think? She said she'll think about offers so might see would she take £40 for all of it so I dont have to sift through each item and then even if I dont like half of it it'll be cheaper than ebay. Whys it so hard to make decisions when your pregnant?!Belly Monkey arrived 19.11.09 :j0

See Lolly, you should plank them in front of a 40" TV with their best clothes on and they won't get dirty! That's where your mistake is!!!0
