Congrats Skinty! Glad you and baby are doing well.

Nanc/Nicki - that dress is lovely, although I think you probably need to be nice and slim to start with to wear it! That rules me out.

Managed to get an outfit sorted for the wedding I am going to tomorrow, although not altogether happy with it, but going to have to make do. Ended up with this top which I am wearing with smart black linen trousers, a black hat, and these sandals. Not what I would normally choose, but dresses/skirts were out due to my hideously swollen legs/ankles/feet!

Just remembered to order a corsage and buttonhole too, so all sorted now I hope.

But won't they have that argument with you whether or not you tell them now or in April that you aren't coming back? What are you expecting them to do vis a vis holiday pay? Put it in your account at the end of the holiday year as you haven't used it, or pay it to you on your last day of employment as accrued? I would expect the latter, and so the argument will be the same whenever you have it.

True - they originally said they would pay any holiday leave I hadn't taken in August's wages. So it's no different for them I guess.

They know you are clued up about employment law, so just hit them with chapter and verse about your legal entitlement and make it clear that you will take them to an IT, and get things sorted before you go off, so you don't have to deal with any stress when baby arrives. It's far harder to deal with employment problems which arise due to maternity leave when you aren't actually physically in the office. I found this when I was off on maternity leave with no 1 and my employers got in a muddle, and I think Searching also did when her mat pay was mucked up just after she went off on leave.

Going to email my boss now I think. But could be a battle!

Cheers Nicki.. found the dress cheaper here as well http://www.clothesagency.com/?page=item&itemID=25210

would it be ok for a wedding, I got some lush high top shop shoes yesterday.. would need a spray tan as well unless the sun comes out

Yes it would be lovely for a wedding. I've worn mine to an awards ceremony when everyone was in cocktail dresses or long evening gowns, and to a private party at the Royal Academy of Art, as well as to more casual parties and once when sitting on an interview panel. It's one of those dresses which you can dress up or down with accessories because it's so simple, so though pricey you do get more wear out of it than you might think.

Kate Garroway was pictured wearing it in the Daily Mail a few days ago taking in a delivery of her new pushchair, so she obviously feels the same way!

That outfit looks lovely too, and also comfortable for all the inevitable standing around! Hope you enjoy the wedding.

    Here's Kate in your dress!

    Thanks Nicki.

Off to Asda now as we have no toilet roll left. I am going through it at a rate of noughts. Whoever said the other day it should be free - I think my DH would agree with you!

Nicki - do you think this sounds OK?

I have spoken with the Hospital Trust today - my start date will be June 2010 and not the earlier date they first indicated.

As I informed you on the 6th July 2009, I will be going on Maternity Leave on 14th August due to my Gestational Diabetes and Induction Date, as I will not be starting work for a new employer until after my baby is born, I will remain an employee of ???????? until I formally hand my notice in (likely to be April/May 2010). As an employee of ????????, I am still entitled to the benefits of maternity leave along with SMP as I met the qualifying period for this.

Would anyone add anything else?

Going home now as came in at 7.30am!! Will log on when I get home.

    TIA xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Glam - I'm probably super cautious, but I'd change it to something more formal and guarded, which leaves your options well and truly open:

"I am writing further to our recent conversations concerning my upcoming maternity leave to confirm the current state of play.

I will be commencing my maternity leave on 14 August 2009 as discussed. As you are aware, although I have not formally handed in my notice from this job, I have been offered and provisionally accepted alternative employment with xxx, however it is not now my intention to begin work with them prior to the birth of the baby. I will keep you informed of my intentions in relation to xxx, and will give you my contractual 4 weeks notice prior to commencing work with them. In the meantime I remain an employee of yyy, and fully entitled to all contractual and statutory benefits including maternity leave and SMP.

    Finally the boys are off!

And the house is weirdly silent.... :o

My maternity clothes tend to be skin tight simply because my bump is huge and I was a 16 to begin with so smocks make me look like huge.

Course, all my tops no longer go below the bump, and the jeans now sit below the bump so its a rather flattering jeans, blue jersey bit of jeans top combination. Chez classy me :D

Congrats Skinty. Glad you are both ok.

Right that is the last 3 names that have featured in my top 5. I am going to have to have a rethink.

I have a really unusual name and I was hoping to have something similar for bubs. I like the fact that when I hear my name I know full well that it is me the people are talking about. I have liked Madison for years, ever since my friend said that was her maiden name. Evie was top choice for a while too, and now Lilia. Are you all becoming mind readers?

Back to the 20,000 names in the baby book I guess!!! lol

Harley we haven't even agreed on one name! :rotfl:

What can I have for dinner? I fancy a baked potato or rogan josh curry, but too lazy to make the curry and I can't just live on baked potatoes and sandwiches.

And guess what the no good excuse of a husband did to me? Took BOTH my car keys! True, I can't drive because it hurts, but still, taking the keys to make sure that I don't is a bit extreme! And it's sitting right outside and she is saying that she misses me and everything...
