harley - government guidance states that people must be off work for 7 days if they are being treated with anti-viral medication for swine flu. He has no choice in the matter, HE HAS TO STAY AT HOME.
I would phone your employer in the morning and say 'I was on FB last night and noticed Person X has posted that he has swine flu. As I am at risk I cannot be in contact with him so can you please confirm that he has phoned in sick otherwise I am afraid that for the benefit of my own health and that of my unborn child I cannot put myself at risk. I have been in contact with my GP that any patient being treated for swine flu must stay at home for 7 days from onset of symptoms and have agreed I should not be in contact with someone being treated'
If they make you go in they are putting you at risk. Don't do it!!!!!
Got my 31 week growth scan tomorrow - can't wait to see my little man again (here's hoping he is still male )

Thanks Glam, I knew you would know the proper guidlines. The sun:o only seems to print contradictory stuff.
Glad you will get to see your boy again tomorrow. Hope he is more of a show off than my little madam and you get a nice clear face shot.

Harley - Any chance you can find out if he is there before you get into work? I think I would stay away, especially after all the advice and talk on the news these past few daysAlthough - he would be stupid to go in, in my honest opinion, and for want of a stronger word!
Tia's little lady - come on, get a wriggle on - you are keeping us all waiting no *stamps feet* Do you think that'll help tia?
Nope i think i maybe waiting a little while longer yet  Feeling like you do at so far gone i guess, just very achey, tired and sooo eager to meet the baby!If google doesn't know it, how should i?0 -

Not a lot of room Glam but enough. Got a lovely view of her face, right up until lovely sonographer pressed the picture button when suddenly the cord mysteriously appeared right in front of her face. Managed to glimpse a little button nose and what could have been a wide open mouth (or an ear) and the rest just looked like a saharan landscape. Didn't even try for 2D pics today, but said to save receipt for next time and maybe she will be better behaved then.
Fingers crossed for youCross Stitch Challenge member 11 - May challenge well under way

Harley, in that case I agree with others and that you should check whether or not he has phoned in sick tomorrow and then make up your mind.
EA and Glam- good luck at your scans tomorrow. Hope your bubbas are in co-operative moods!
On a totally different note, I have just realised that if I need to take any time off sick between now and starting maternity leave I will blow my bonus for this quarter. Part of the bonus criteria is a very strict labour budget, and being off sick would blow it. What a pain in the butt- fingers crossed I make it through my last seven weeks in good health!!!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
Aless, my brain feels slow today, can you give me a quick run down of what factors I need to work out whether I would be better working 4 days or 5. Thanks!
MAJOR MATHS WARNING!
Well, first figure out what your pay would be with the reduced hours. I did a simplistic calc of my yearly salary divided by 52 divided by 5 to get daily total and then re-multiply that total by 4 (or number of days you want to work) then again by 52 to get your new annual salary.
Second - find out if you work offers childcare vouchers and then go onto the Vouchers website (I Googled 'childcare vouchers') and do the calculator to find how much the vouchers will save you per year in taxes (I used the max amt. of £55/wk b/c I know I want to claim the full amt) for each of the 2 salaries (mine was the same figure of savings).
Third - For each of those 2 figures, I then went to the online tax calculator and plugged in my salary. Get the NET amount for each figure and then ADD back what the childcare voucher calculator tells you (mine was the same number for both salaries).
Fourth - find a ballpark figure for average childcare costs in your area per day. Calc the cost per week (then per year by multiplying by 52) for the amount it would cost if you continued to work 5 days/wk and then the reduced amt (so 4 days/wk for you).
The FINAL step is to then set up a ratio - you want to find out what percentage of your salary each of the 2 options are. So I did:
For carrying on full-time employment: (CHILDCARE YEARLY TOTAL) divided by (NET ANNUAL SALARY) times 100. For me, it was 32%.
For theoretical reduction in days to 4: (NEW CHILDCARE YEARLY TOTAL) divided by (NEW NET ANNUAL SALARY) times 100. For me, this was 26%, thus meaning that by working 1 day less per week I REDUCED the percentage of my salary childcare would cost which therefore I considered a savings.
I told you it was complicated!! :rotfl:But basically my rationale boiled down to spending less proportionately on childcare would equal better value all around...so even though I'd bring home less money, less of it would be spent on childcare. Also, I forgot to include child tax credit but since it was the same amt for both salaries, it wouldn't really change the ratios any.
OMG, I hope that made sense - and I hope my logic is sound!top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

no but think we can safely move her to given birth list if anyone fancies updating the list - I would but I'm trying to do some OT as well as post on here!
EA - good luck at scan tomorrow, got everything crossed for you. They might not be able to see if it's twins so early on anyway! Some people don't find out until they born after having 2 scans!!!
Aless - I'll look at your maths when my brain is screwed on a bit better (like maybe after birth!)A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
