Looking at the two options of Home Premium and Professional the only big difference that would effect me seems to be the Windows XP compatability mode. Does anybody know if I could partiton my HDD and have Windows 7 and XP on seperate partitions and then simply dual boot whichever OS I wanted? This would save getting the Professional version.

    Many thanks in advance.

Home Premium is restricted to supporting a maximum of 16GB RAM, depending how you use your computer you may find that a problem.

Dual booting will be fine. Is there a particular program that you use that isn't supported by Win7?

whats the difference between N and E versions
  • E doesn't have Internet Explorer, N doesn't have Internet Explorer or Windows Media Player.

So doesn't really matter I suppose since you can download both for free, although something to be aware of is that while 7 comes with Windows Media Player 12 (I think) only 11 can be downloaded officially.

when you order from microsoft it gives the option of download + back up disc
will the back up disc be full retail disc
  • From past experience, it will have everything that the retail version has, however it will just be a plain disc sent in a paper envelope. No fancy packaging I'm afraid!
