Sweet Peppers and Chilis
Comments

I have several chili and pepper plants growing quite happily on my coffee table, much to DD's delight! She thinks I love my plants more than her! if only she knew lol But to carry on I have lots of flowers but no actual chilis or peppers yet, I have the windows open a lot and have had a fan on blowing them about a little bit. Is there any thing else I can do to encourage the plants to fruit and how often should I water and feed? I have been watering about 4 times a week and haven't fed them yet.
Any help would be wonderful
Thanks0 -

Nip off the biggest flower; leave it to wilt a bit after moving it to the sunniest position that you can and on days like these; get it outside in the sun for a few hours.0 -

2 deep red chillies today and a few more turning.0 -

Still disapointing this year with my chillis. I've dug them out of the garden and potted them up, I shall keep them as house plants through the winter and gently prune in the spring and see what happens.~~~~~~~~~~~~Halifax, taking the Xtra since 1853:rolleyes:~~~~~~~~~~~~0

My glebe has produced lovely yellow hot chillis and is still producing at a rate of knotts; I've had at least 35 off it and it has about another 50 plus more flowers coming.
And that's just one plant.
My Fat Bangs have got loads on them, half are pointing up and about 2 inches long and half are hanging down and about 3 inches long. Can't wait for these to turn colour as they are gonna look wicked.
Also, my other pet love, purple jalapenos, has - yes - purple jalapenos on it. YAY!!! These are gorgeous and will be pickled in vinegar once I have enough for a jar.
Any my sweet peppers are just awesome, about 6 inches long and still growing.
And what's most important, is that my OH wants me to grow MORE next year. YAY!!!0 -
Flippin heck, used the first two yellow globes in a chilli and it was really hot! To be fair I did put in three cayenne chillies as well, but it was a big chilli!
Grown next to the tomatoes, my chillies haven't done so well this year, I think I'll grow them all in individual pots next year, so I can move them around.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

Yes, they are quite hot0 -
i tried a bite of one of my fresno chillis last night - it was hotter than I expected. I also have chinese 5 colour chillies, which are ripening from purple through to orange - very pretty! Will be saving seeds from these as they were expensive!!
Purple Beauty peppers are looking good! Picked first one friday, but not eaten it yet. Banana chilli is too mild and not particularly interesting!
What is 'globe' like?
...ooh - would a comparing chilli and pepper varieties thread be useful, like the tom one?0 -
