i got a feeling they do work with other milks tho arent they meant to be full cream rather then semi skinned
ticklemouse i think the consensus (well what i have read) is that u dont wash milk kefir grains and yes the stuff left over is the kefir
i also read that if u strain the kefir you will get cream cheese
ohhh i wish my grains would hurry up and arrive <taps foot impatiently)

I seem to have found a guy who at $10 will post some grains to me, and I am SO excited! Will I just have to put them in milk or do I have to do something else??? It's so wrong to live on these sort of news but damn I just love this stuff
I give you some but only if you let me hand deliver themAdelaide is my most favourite place in the world. You are so lucky!

Lol, you are more than welcome to hand- deliver and there is a spare bed here but I can't pay for the flight ;-) Yes I feel lucky too but I also worked hard for it. But yeah definitely lucky.
The guy I contacted via www.rejoiceinlife.com (good site btw) is sending me some on Monday. Apparently he makes his Kefir with reconstituted milk out of dried milk powder??? Might try that as well. I'm a bit lost, I hope I don't kill the grains before I work out how to use them!Three years, six months, three weeks, 13 hours, 48 minutes and 30 seconds. 26011 cigarettes not smoked, saving $11,704.80. Wow, this is a great thread! I've just applied to join the fermented foods group mentioned here as well. I have some sourdough to pass on, so I'll see if that's wanted by anyone.
/edit: Just nominated this for post of the month. Good luck!0_o0 -
