Hi Leonie !
Thanks to you I have a very healthy batch of grains, Will post as soon as I have some spare but with family and friends I have a months waiting list at least .
My grains do not grow large before splitting but are very virile and it only takes about a teaspoonfull to convert a litre of milk in 24 hours ( are yours the same ? ).
So far I have used it in bread, made soft cheese ( same consistancy as Philly but sweeter ) and drunk about one and a half pints a day from a jug which I keep on the worktop and just keep topping up as I use .
Not noticed more trips to the loo but have lost the bloated feeling that I had and and I am no longer a " wind farm " !
All in all I am glad I started and think this will be a part of my lifestyle and diet for the rest of my days .

Hi Shammy, glad you are getting on well with the grains.
Mine are the same, they dont grow very big, but I get little babies breaking off.
You are the second person today to mention to me that they are a 'gas stopper' lol.
You have been very adventurous, i've not tried the soft cheese but i've heard its good.
I added a few tsps to my normal yoghurt today and that was nice.0 -
Has anyone noticed if they have lost any weight with all this increased "activity" that kefir seems to produce?
i am definetly interested in this, my children get through a ridiculous amount of fromage frais. these have a high sugar and relatively low fruit content, so it would be great to gradually wean them onto kefir!
Thanks Leonie for the op.Trying to tidy and clean while the kids are still growing, is like trying to clear snow even though it's still snowing

Good point !
I have found that I was increasing in weight having stopped smoking about 3 months ago but have reached a plateau over the last week and have today noticed a 1 kilo drop .
Will monitor and post back, but of course weight loss or gain is a tricky and fickle subject with many causes !

I don't actually think it tastes bad either, especially now it's a bit older, it was just the thought of it being live bacteria. But turns out when you snog someone you swap 5 million bacteria so apparently kefir ain't so bad
Now, recipes

Sorry I've lost track slightly. Where can I get grains and is there an easy list of what to do with them. DH has Crohn's disease and I wondered if this might help!0
