Hope you're feeling a little better about things. Great idea to get proactive and talk to the Labour Ward Manager. Must be hard being away from home too without that immediate support network. You're doing fab though :A and your fellow DFW's are here to [STRIKE]poke their nose in[/STRIKE] , [STRIKE]kick you up the bum[/STRIKE] , [STRIKE]overuse the smilies[/STRIKE] , er ... offer support :D

Sounds like the best decision for the dream house for the time being - "What's for you won't go by you"

dkilligarth - These forums are great for a good kick up the bum! Good luck with it all. Perhaps start your own diary? It really does help to get everything down (it is hard at times but bery much worth it) Also there are lots of threads dedicated to upping your income and thrifty bits for Xmas - which is 36 sleeps away

Wow:j! What started off as a virtual rant - who knew how much support was out there? I do feel better today, but still keen to get home:o. I spoke with one of the lead midwives regarding my shift on neonatal on Saturday and she said its not important - it was only to observe and that if I need some time at home that was more important.

Just popping onto National Express and Megabus websites to see if I can get a bus tonight. If not then maybe tomorrow. If it all turns out too expensive then I'll need to stay and get on with it. I've only got shifts Monday and Tuesday and then I'm home for a week for my graduation:D.

Sincere thanks to you all - its the lowest I've ever been (and was surprised it wasn't about money lol!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:) and you have really helped pick me up off the floor.

    Love to you all:T

Yes, the dream house will need to pass us by for now. All the more reason to keep at reducing this bleedin debt. I will need to keep say 99p debt or something - or else I can't post here!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hi gargrave, hope the job is going well. I have been looking through your posts and you have given me the kick up the bum I need to get on top of my debts. After having had a good cry and a cup of tea I am about to start listing my income and outgoing. I think of the top of my head I owe about 35,000 in un secured debts and 140,000 in mortgage. My husband has had his hours at work cut and is now on a 4 day week untill March and then the company will decide if they can keep going or not. So 4 months of worry. I am going to tell all of the grown ups in my family not to expect anything for christmas as we are only buying the grandchildren something. We have been struggling to pay everything anyway and this with my husbands job has been the last straw. I am sorry to vent all of this on your thread but you truly are an inspiration. Could you tell me how and where you manage to get the vouchers from and I will try to save up that way. I have a bank account I don't use and I will start putting anything I can in it. Any help will be gratefully received.
    Thank you dkilligarth

Its not an easy task facing your debts and doing the dreaded addition to find out your total owed.

The vouchers I get from survey sites including Valued Opinions, Rewarded opinions, ipoints, pigsback etc. They have really helped with Christmas and I'm just about to spend the first cash on Xmas this month.

Good luck with your debt journey - as suggested it can be really useful to start your own thread and get your progress down on "paper".

    Hi Gargrave,

Have come a bit late to the virtual rant but have just read back the last couple of pages. Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better now and that the senior midwife was understanding. Hope you have a lovely weekend at home and feek refreshed when you come back next week xx

Thanks Katy, safely home. No exciting mail surprisingly. Got an up to date statement from Littlewoods - the balance is down to around £1920 so will need to update my debt total:j. No word from Next on my F&F:confused:. Not surprised, but might have expected a rejection letter:rolleyes:. I think the expiry date on my offer was 26th November, but will need to check back this thread to make sure thats what I put on my letter!

Yip - the 26th November is the expiry date for my offer to Next, so I suppose they have a bit more time:rolleyes:.

My ebay items seems to be doing ok - finishing shortly. The plan is to use some of the money raised to buy some Xmas shopping, and bank the rest:j.

  • Hi Gargrave -glad to hear you are feeling better. It struck me yesterday that there is a lot going on at the moment in your life - the debt busting, being away from the family, starting a new job, wanting to get the dream house - etc and concerns with the new job. It sounds to me like everything hit you at once. I hope once you are able to spend a bit more time at home - catch up on sleep and sort things out a bit in your mind. Hopefully work can help sort out your concerns.

    Thanks df,

I think you are right - too much going on and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I'm short on sleep, short on cash and short on experience! Hopefully I can get some sleep, enjoy my family and go back knowing that I only have 2 long shifts and then I'm flying home for an entire week:j.

I think I really need my pay on Thursday to show me its worth it - morale is a little low just now:o. Planning to review my debt totals to hopefully spur me on a little too:T.

Just used Martins £5 free code to get £25 trade in on my old phone:j. I shopped about for the best trade in value, and the best offer I had before that was from Envirofone and was £21.51 in Argos credit. I'll take £25 cash - thank you Martin:money:.

Just updated my debt total in my sig, to reflect the payments I've made since my LBM - great little lift:D. Hope to be on track to get my debt under £21k to start 2010.

DS has a party today, but I used a £10 Asda voucher to get the Bolt DVD for nowt - I have wrapping paper so just need to get a birthday card:j.

Heading round to the Post Office whilst DS is at his football to post my paid Ebay parcels. I did really well - only 2 items unsold so they have been relisted:D. Need to book my return coach for tomorrow morning too :o- although you can pay it via paypal so Ebay money will be paying for this too so as not to touch the bank!)
