Well, it was going to be a NSD but I've had a !!!!!! day, the same as another new midwife. We have decided to go out and share a bottle of wine to "debrief". Both need to vent a little steam, and we have a study day tomorrow so no clinical work! Hoping it will be cheap.

The solicitor called to say they rejected the offer of £190k (shocker), but that she would be willing to accept £210k. I told her this was way above what we could go to. She told us if there was any improvement on our £190k to go back to her and she would put it to them. The plan is to leave our offer on the table for now. Best idea we think would be to wait a couple of years and try to become debt free so that we are in a better position, although obviously we would lose out on the dream house!

Ah well probably the right result. And if nobody else puts in an offer they could always come back to you in the new year, and at the rate you are going you may have a few less debts by then :T.

Enjoy your night out - sounds like a good idea to get to know the other midwives down there anyway.

Thanks Tixy, at least i'm not the only newly qualified midwife having a rocky few days! Off out in ten minutes. I finish early tomorrow and my challenge is to come up with a strategy re: the next debt I am going to tackle - and how I'm going to do it!:)

    Hi all

I'm so sorry - I'm sure some of you think I'm brave (or mad - or a bit of both:rolleyes:), however tonight I am just about broken:o. I write this with tears running down my face uncontrollably. I'm having a horrible time, and I feel I am being put in some plainly dangerous situations. I have tonight, emailed the labour ward manager to request a meeting (hope she doesn't chew me to pieces), as I feel I have to be seen to raise my concerns before something awful happens, and I end up with the blame. Phoned my husband in awful state tonight, and I'm sure he is worried sick. Disgusting as it is, I am going to "have" D&V on Saturday as I have a study day tomorrow and then nothing until Monday and really feel the need to be supported at home just now. Sorry for being such a defeatist - I feel awful:o

    Hi Lucielle,

(D&V - diahorrea and vomitting) Anyway this morning I've pulled myself together a bit and I have a study day so don't start until 0830. I've emailed the labour ward manager and asked if I can meet with her. If thats the area I am going to work in, I want to know what is expected of me and how they actually do things. I want to learn by practice not error.

Anyway, one of the other new midwives is having a similar experience. We both said last night that perhaps once we get paid, that might pick us up a bit:confused:. Pay day is a week today so I can hang on til then as I'm home Wednesday morning for my graduation:D.

Thinking again about claiming D&V - think I should just put my head down and get on with it.

You stick in there and really the D&V would, to a certain extent, be sticking your head in the sand. You need to get over the first few sticky patches and move on from there, hiding won't help in my opinion. I don't mean that in a critical way, more a supportive way, if that makes sense? You are also feeling down because of all the other things.

On the "dream house" situation, you are probably right to do what you plan doing. There are always more dream houses around, they may not be on the market at the moment and by sorting out the finances first you will be in a much better position when you find the next dream house, and there will be another come along!:santa2:
  • Hi Gargrave, I have also read your entire thread. When I get a break i try to check for updates to see how your getting on, I expect their are more people like me and Lucielle who are following and wishing you well. I think that you are one amazing lady for what your doing and how your going about things and you keep a sense of humour too. You are strong, your post this morning shows that, keep going. I would have liked to see you get your dream house but was actually releived that your offer was declined because my worry for you is that your dream house could become your nightmare house if anything changed meaning you could not keep up your payments and I think you and your OH know that deep down. Chin up Gargrave, you will work things through. Enjoy your graduation next week. Sammy x

Really sorry to hear you are low Gar. It must be really tough especially when you are so far from home and your support network.

Sounds like a good plan to speak to the ward manager and discuss your concerns. Hope this goes well and that it helps improves things for you.

    Virtual hugs :grouphug:coming your way.

  • Hi gargrave, hope the job is going well. I have been looking through your posts and you have given me the kick up the bum I need to get on top of my debts. After having had a good cry and a cup of tea I am about to start listing my income and outgoing. I think of the top of my head I owe about 35,000 in un secured debts and 140,000 in mortgage. My husband has had his hours at work cut and is now on a 4 day week untill March and then the company will decide if they can keep going or not. So 4 months of worry. I am going to tell all of the grown ups in my family not to expect anything for christmas as we are only buying the grandchildren something. We have been struggling to pay everything anyway and this with my husbands job has been the last straw. I am sorry to vent all of this on your thread but you truly are an inspiration. Could you tell me how and where you manage to get the vouchers from and I will try to save up that way. I have a bank account I don't use and I will start putting anything I can in it. Any help will be gratefully received.
    Thank you dkilligarth
