The house is just about empty - sitting on the floor as we speak.:p
Sofa still to be sold, a mirror, and a few other bits and bobs. Last minute.com stuck Alan's golf clubs and weights on Gumtree so hoping for a quick sale. They are priced to sell! Listed one more item on eBay for a 3 day listing to finish on Sunday and hoping for quick payment.:)LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

NI is not refundable, you can simply apply to have it refunded into a private pension instead if you won't be in the UK. Will hang off and see what happens when we get our permenant residency.
Thought it was too good to be true.

Hi Gargrave, I read through your whole thread a few weeks ago - gives me hope! -but can I be super nosy and ask what you are going to do about your remaining debt when you go? If I remember correctly this is a bos one that the had no signed agreement for? Is that correct?
Thanks and sorry for being nosy lol0 -
Finally de-lurking. It only took me to get around to changing my password as I couldn't never remember it, therefore, hardly ever posted. I'm still not too up on quoting and smiley icons.
I started reading your story months ago and am totally impressed on what you've managed to achieve. All the best for your life on the other side of the world.
The 6-12 weeks for your sea freight will no doubt depend on how long it takes to fill up a container. If they make it into one that's almost full, then it will be off sooner. All a random kind of thing (my Dad used to have a removals business). Which meant that he was a nightmare when I shipped a couple of tea chests from New Zealand to over here a few years ago. He kept insisting on giving the perfectly capable packers directions. We had to send him out of the room in the end. Dear old boy.
Take care.0 -

Hi and thanks for reading:D
Not nosey at all - I've made F&F on the 2 HBoS overdrafts. They have declined them therefore I have offered them token payments. The HBoS credit card seems to have been abandoned by the debt collectors chasing it this year, and has been sent back to HBoS. I made a reasonable F&F and they declined, therefore I will fight this one all the way. Littlewoods swallowed their pride and accepted my £30 every 28 days which I had been happily paying for 2 years before they got greedy. And that's about it:j:j:j:j.LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

Thanks for de-lurking. I think we are pretty organised for now.
Thankfully I've changed my view on money and spending, and will quite confidently say that I will never get myself into debt again. No more credit cards or loans in my future:p.LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

Well the Gumtree listings seem to have worked, including the 2 which were on there for the sofa and mirror which I rejigged a bit. Everything listed is now sold pending collection later today:j:j:j:j.
Two people even got into a bidding war over my mirror, and as a result I've now netted £10 more than I listed it for:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
Mirror £45
Sofa £200
Golf Clubs £35
Dumbells £10
Ipod docking station £20
I tell a lie, just realised I put 2 suitcases on yesterday, and they haven't been sold:o. Lovely Samsonite grey hard back ones - £20 for both total bargain!!!!LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

The man is on his way for the golf clubs.
Also the postie has been whilst I was out, and has brought me a beautiful handmade card from my work with a cheque for £87 from all my friends at the hospital. Feeling very much appreciated and a little bit humble. Going to transfer it to dollars and buy something nice for my new Aussie home.LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

Quick update.
Have now received £45 for the mirror, £25 for the suitcases, £10 for a tool bag, £10 for a set of dumbells, and £35 for the golf clubs.:j:j:j
Just £200 for the sofa to be pocketed which is being collected before 12 on Tuesday.:j:j:j
Have negotiated with o2 as my husband still has a year to run on his mobile phone contract. They have reduced his tariff so that he pays just £31.50 a month for the remainder of the contract rather than £42.;)
I only have six months left on mine, so I am hoping to negotiate the same sort of deal.:j:j:j
Have to pop to the shops with Alan's brother (he is a Manager in JD Sports and gets 30% discount), as Cole needs trainers and a few bits for going away.LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free
