  • I heard a dedication on the radio yesterday for somone who was about to get on a plane and start their new life in Australia. I was shocked and for a second thought it was you and that you'd sneaked off early!

Turns out it was someone from 'Daan Saarf' so it was ok, but I got a bit of a start.

Then I thought it would be really nice to get a dedication played for you and your wee adventuring family for Thursday, then realised you wouldn't hear it cos you probably don't have a radio left! :rotfl:
  • So, if we WERE going to get a request played...

Dear [insert name of favourite DJ here] (I would pick Chris Evans or Simon Mayo on R2).

Please play [insert most appropriate/favourite travel-themed song here] for our dear friend Julie as she and her husband Alan and son Cole take off for the other side of the world to start a new life in Australia.

Julie has been a source of inspiration and information for so many in our little community and is a whirlwind of a woman who sets her mind to something and gets things done. She's come from a position so far behind and through sheer determination, hard work and personal sacrifice, has succeeded beyond anything even she might have imagined at the beginning of her journey.

From everyone in her community (that's the MSE Forms... none of us have ever actually met this amazing woman) we'd like to wish her well for her new life and we know that it'll be a massive success, because she doesn't do it any other way! :D

    From 'the Gargrave Posse'. :rotfl:

I think you've hit the nail on the head there granny :D:D I'm expecting to see lots of items for sale in Oz starting from the end of August:D

Julie, I know I don't post here very often but I do read regularly and will really miss you and your posts until you join us again. Don't be a stranger for too long....

Best of luck with the remainder of the packing (thought I can't imagine what on earth you've got left to pack now..), getting your two men ready for the flights (that's a challenge in itself) and your new life and job down under. You are going to do brilliantly over there I just know it.

I wanted to say that now in case I don't get back on again before you leave.

    Good luck and bon voyage

    spoon xx

PS: Grand Benders - love the idea of a request on R2 but no radio could be a bit of a handicap :rotfl:
:) The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time :)
  • Grand Benders, that is fab :rotfl: but yes without a radio much better just to post it here :rotfl:

I'm off to London today for a few days, so you will be gone when i get home! So Bon Voyage Gargrave/ Julie/ G/ any other name you go by :D

    Thanks all :D

I haven't had much of a chance to get on here. Turns out getting two boys ready for a flight is harder work than I remember! Up to my ears in customs paperwork, trying to make sure I don't bugg@r it up so we don't appear on that programme "Borders"!!!!

Thanks for the "radio" request - the radio is long gone so I'd need to sit in the neighbours car to hear it as our car is gone also:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

It means so much more on here anyway:p.

I will be back to post before I head off tomorrow.

Wow!! The day is almost here!:j:j:j:j

Under the circs. thats only natural, you are heading out to a new world and a new life. You will still have your freinds on here though and we will be rooting for you.

Personally I will be green with envy you having sun, sun, sun after the awful summer we have had here. I wish you all you wish yourselves, I know you are going to love it out there and you have a real chance to make a new life for yourselves.

    Bon Voyage..........

    Thanks everyone.

My best friend just left in tears, she is getting married next year and I always thought I'd be there. Maybe I will, who knows. I just had to say to her it's not goodbye, it's see you later. I'm so lucky.:)

It's a huge undertaking, I just hope I've done everything I can to make sure we get off on a good footing.

Trekking to the Post Office with the last of the eBay when it reopens at 2pm. Didn't make a huge amount, but every [STRIKE]penny[/STRIKE] cent counts!:money:
