Feeling very low today - had an argument with my lovely husband and I just can't let it lie
.
Anyway, back to moneysaving (whilst my heart is still in it). Yesterday was a NSD so thats 3/12 planned for August done. Will try very hard to complete the other 9.
Apparently the credit agreement for the HP of our car came today, hubby was trying to explain over the telephone what it read - however doesn't sound like it has PPI but will check when I get home. On the plus side thats £269 a month we only have to pay for one more year, then hopefully keep the car until it dies.
Nothing much else to report in the way of money saving. Off to do some surveys which are cluttering my inbox, whilst all on nightshift is quiet.
Sorry its dull and dreary - seem to have lost my spark today.LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

I have just read this entire thread and I take my hat off to you, you are an inspiration.
The only inspiration I should be is not to get yourself in this mess in the first place:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

I sent a cheque for £25 yesterday to settle the remaining balance before they start adding even more charges!! I am hoping (in vain) that they will reconsider my email before cashing the £25 cheque!
Letter from 8th December 2010 from Santander in response to my request for closure of the account enclosing a cheque for overdrawn amount with the terms that if they cash the cheque they will waiver any pending charges. This is their response:
"Your account is at zero balance however there are outstanding charges on your account totalling £10. In order for us to complete your request please send us a cheque for £10 blah blah blah".
I responded with a covering letter enclosing my original request and highlighting the terms the account was settled on:D.
Then they kept banging on charges which left the account £475 OD with me fighting it all the way, and I ended up with a nice little default against the account on my credit record:mad:. Couldn't find my "evidence" letter until today, and yesterday responded to their letter refunding me £450 of the charges, by sending them a cheque for £25 to settle the balance and get the account closed.
Now I've found it, sent off this cheeky little email on the off chance I can get out of the £25.:(
Dear Sirs,
I received your letter of 8th August 2011 yesterday (16th August), and sent a response by return enclosing a cheque for £25 for the remaining balance due. This was following Santander's agreement to refund £450 of the £475 snowballed charges which occured following your letter of 8th December 2010, in response to my original request to close the account.
The letter of 8th December 2010 (ref CL50/994/KK) confirms that my account balance was at zero, however refers to outstanding charges of £10 pending on the account. My original letter sent prior to this requesting closure of the account, enclosed a cheque for the overdrawn balance inc charges at the time with the "proviso" that if presented by Santander this would be full and final settlement of the account and that the pending £10 charges would be waived. As Santander did proceed to present the cheque, it was reasonable for me to assume that they did so in agreement with the terms of the covering letter.
It has taken since December 2010 with Santander continuing to pile on charges to the original £10 charges referred to in your letter of 8th December 2010, to continually fight my case for these charges to be refunded as they were not in line with the terms I set out when I settled the outstanding balance on the account. Santander managed to snowball charges on a debit balance caused only by Santander applying a £10 charge to a massive £475. As I have now found your letter of 8th December 2010 as my proof to confirm that my account was settled, and that the charges on charges were what caused this "debt" I wish to appeal the amount Santander have refunded of the charges. I don't see why you would refund £450 and leave £25 outstanding. Perhaps so you can carry on applying even further charges?
If you are unable to trace your correspondence of 8th December 2010, I would be happy to scan and send this to you. In the meantime I would ask that you reconsider the value of the refund, and also arrange to remove the default from my credit file which was only as a result of Santander applying charges to an overdrawn amount caused by a charge being levied against the terms I settled the account on.
I would appreciate your urgent response as I have already sent a cheque for £25, prior to finding my evidence of my zero balance.
Probably the most confusing post I have ever composed:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

Sorry for the earlier low ebb, sorting myself out now. Misery over, its stupid to argue 400 miles apart:(.
All out of things to do in a moneysaving capacity:money:...........never mind I'm on labour ward for nightshift tomorrow night - there will be NO time for updating then!
Aiming for a NSD today as I have plans for Friday when I wake up after 5 nightshifts
1. Return items to Next
2. Downloaded eat for £5 at Pizza Hut voucher (use for up to 8 people) for medium pizza and unlimited salad each - so going with my 2 housemates for a cheap dinner
3. Buy some ready meals to do my 3 long days and a multipack of diet coke to get me through my last 3 shifts.
4. Cheap bottle of wine to watch some garbage Friday night TV with.
5. Put on the lottery so I can win:D
If successful I will have done 4/12 NSDs for August. I can easily achieve another 3 on my 3 x long days Saturday, Sunday and Monday because its likely I'll be too busy to get a break. And by the time I finish and get home it will be bedtime.
Booked another 2 bank nightshifts for 2 weeks time (I'm going home on Monday til Sunday:T). That should be around £400.
Waiting on the bank shifts for the next off duty to come out, as I'm staying down for 2 weeks next time and I have space to do 7 bank shifts ~ £1400.
Booked all my flights last month until end October, so because I am booking 6 weeks ahead my flights are around £100 return which is saving me around £100-200 a month.:jLBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

Printed off a couple of restaurant vouchers - one for 2 x free kids breakfasts when you buy a £7.99 adult breakfast at table table. Think this will be a nice little treat on Saturday morning on the way back from DS football training. He and I can have the kids breakfasts as it usually fills me up!! BARGAIN!
I really should compare my energy prices again and maybe consider a capped tarriff in view of escalating energy prices? Of course it will be done via Top Cashback or Quidco - as will the switch if need be.:money:LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

Hats off to you for living in London instead of Glasgow. That wouldn't be me (I'm from London, living in "quite sunny most of the time" Edinburgh). I hope you get a job back home in Glasgow soon.
With your computer going slow, if you keep your computer on for a long time, it will eventually start to slow down. Turning it off, waiting a couple of minutes for the RAM to clear and turning it on again sometimes works. If it is the internet that is going slow, try clearing the cache. Firefox can be better than Internet Explorer for this kind of problem. The other thing to consider, rather than ditching the computer is buying a bit more memory for it. I recently upped mine from 2 to 4 gigs, and it made a noticeable difference on the speed front.
Car boot sales. We've done a lot of buying and selling at car boots. I think Blochairn on a nice day would be nicer than Polmadie to sell at. Polmadie doesn't have many spots and seems to be overrun with traders whenever I go there. The downside to both of them, especially Blochairn is you have to wait in the queue half the night for a spot.
There are a few alternatives worth cosnsidering though. On a nice day (I stress this part because in the rain this isn't that pleasant) the one in South lanarkshire near Overton, down at the farm is pretty good. People there don't seem to want everything for 20p. The one on Sunday in Stirling, also outdoors though, can be quite good too. Errol is fantastic on a nice day when the field is full, - it's a massive car boot, but probably a bit far to go to from Glasgow, and we always buy more than we sell there.... Kinross isn't that good anymore. Over on our side there's Omni on Sundays, a huge indoor car boot which is usually quite good. The outdoor on at Chesser (next to Asda, West |edinburgh) is on on Saturdays and Sundays. It's good on Saturdays, though it's a pretty early start.0
