If the item doesn't arrive, raise a claim for item not received.

I have to admit to feeling for the seller, One of the main reasons I don't sell on ebay are the rules they enforce (out of about 5 sales, I have been subject to this rule 3 times and both of the other two sales were paid for on collection).

In the sellers shoes I wouldn't release the goods until I had cleared funds, BUT then again I wouldn't sell an item like this knowing ebay are likely to hold onto my money either.

Paypal are basically operating as a free escrow service.
    Whats the problem?

To be honest the problem is I don't want to release my property until I have been paid for it, with Ebay & Paypal I don't have that option so I avoid selling on Ebay.

Frankly I don't care if Paypal are operating as a free escrow service, I don't want to use that facility as the only way to be sure that doesn't happen in the future is to sell elsewhere that is the choice I have made.

You have been paid - you money is with an escrow.

If you don't like payment via escrow then you are right to avoid ebay, but I don't know why any honourable seller would have an issue with escrow.

  • i use ebay and paypal because i have to... it plays a big part of my business. however if i was left with a choice i would not use either as they seem to have a rule and a law or their own... in other words they are playing god between buyers and sellers and i think it is not fair! i understand the buyer doe not want to loose there money and have no goods in there hands but the seller is in the same boat. they do not want to part with goods until they have the cash in there hands. even if they payment has gone through the buyer still can claim the money back through the bank system leaving the seller out of pocket! this has happened to me many times and paypal will not do anything about it. the whole system is risky... ive also had a buyer contact paypal saying he is not happy. he bought 2 expensive club lights at £399 paypal told him to send back. we missed the delivery man and the goods was returned to the buyer. paypal still gave him the money back as the delivery was attempted and left me with no goods or money. paypal yet again would not assist... this is theft in a huge way and it is about time we all got together and put a stop to it! some will agree some won't until you have these problems you won't agree.

Why dont you pay the buyer the cost of having them sent back again?
Yes it is dishonest of a buyer to keep the goods and the money, but they can't be expected to fork out twice for your continual mistakes.

A county court summons landing on a scammers mat usually makes most scammers see the light. I very rarely have to take a scammer to court for the judge to tell them they are a scammer. Try it ... unless you are scared the judge might class you as the scammer. :)

Just sounds like you need to sort out your returns a little better. It sounds like more of a problem with your systems and not understanding the way paypal works more than anything.

I have had my problems with paypal but I realised there are ways to minimise these by properly understanding the systems and have your own policies in place for these problems and that includes court action as Premier suggests
