Morning everyone!
Redruby - well done to your DD!
PenPin - hope your meds help a lot. I bet you can't wait for the new puppy, can you?
Well, Bastille Day here so another bank holiday. We are off to the local commune 'do' for a giant paella (strange choice for a French festival!) at 12 noon, followed by various activities all afternoon, a cold buffet at 5, fireworks at 10 and a dance at 11 - if we haven't collapsed by then! It's only five minutes away so I think we'll be sneaking back for an afternoon nap on the sofa before going back for the evening. Still, no cooking for me - yipee!
France literally closes down on bank holidays and the days leading up to it. DH worked yesterday but said there was no traffic on the roads at all. They take it very seriously here.
Anyway, OS for me has been to make some bread, get two loads on the washing line, make the bed, clean the bathroom and ....well, that's it. An easy day (although I should be doing DH's accounts, but they can wait until tomorrow).
I hope you all have a great day.

Morning All!
Absolutelt shattered this morning. DD rang me yesterday. Ex-FIL was in hospital with lung cancer, and yesterday he had a heart attack. DD needed to go and see him. Picked her up from work, caught a train to London, then out to Kent, then a bus. Did it in wo and a half hours. Waited for Ex and DS to arrive. They left at 11am, and arrived at 6.30pm. Ex -MIL was very touched that I'd turned up, but I was his DIL for 20 years after all, and always got on well with him.
DD had her uniform on, and went and asked questions that we couldn't, then she looked after her Grandad, putting on his nebuliser, and when he fought it, she talked to him quietly and he calmed down. felt so proud of her. He's not expected to last long.
We left at 7 and got home at 9.30pm.:o
Got my DWP medical today, good job someone is taking me, I couldn't manage on my own. Have to use my chair as it is.:p
My outside chair lift has decided to pack up too! It was playing up and I rang them yesterday. They are coming out tomorrow.
((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))) if yiu need them.
Have a good day all.

Morning all!
Hilstep - hope that your ex FIL is on the mend xx
Edit - sorry x posted, hope that he is comfortable and well done to your dd xx
Many many thanks for all the good wishes and words of wisdow about oh! Redruby, of course I don't mind you saying that, it's what I was thinking too! But even if it hadn't been, then it's always good to have other people's opinions, which is why I love this board, everyone always tries to help. Anyhoo, we saw each other yesterday afternoon, both a little tired to have a proper discussion and running short of time for it anyway, would rather do it when we can really sort things out. He did apologise, saying it was a male thing, way too much testosterone if you ask me! I said that the kids and me had done things our own way for a long time, even when I was with their dad, cos he was rarely around and rarely wanted to participate in family life, so we were just used to doing things our way, and that if things bothered him he needed to tell me, cos it wouldn't always be obvious to me. I am going to make an effort to stop the kids just traipsing through my room, well at least when oh is here. He doesn't have kids, so I think that he simply doesn't realise that there is very little privacy when you have four, though he is learning fast - very steep curve to go from singledom to suddenly spending a lot of time with four children! Also spoke to my best friend last night, who is playing golf with oh today, he has children and is separated and is going to speak to oh and explain how bloody hard it is to juggle constantly and try to keep everyone happy, but also that children will always come first, well at least until they are grown up then they can try waiting their turn lol!
Got the plumber here at the mo, fitting a shower over the kids' bath, so at least they won't be using mine any more, great as far as cleaning up and picking wet towels goes, and also should pacify oh a little! Also repairing the flush on the loo which you have to pull so hard that it has made the loo leak! And replacing the sink which has a big crack where I dropped a mirror in it, with the old one from my bathroom. Got to go and get a shower screen and some nice bits for it, actually have prob got some old vases and things, just to ensure that the girls prefer their one to mine!
OS today was gonna start with washing, but water is off, dope that I am had turning on wm before plumber arrived, he just looked at me, doh! Think I shall go and get the shower screen, then come back and do some cooking, was meant to be roast chicken for dinner, but ds and dd1 are ill, high temps and dizzy - slightly worrying as their school has several kids with swine flu, including the lass that ds sits next to in English! dd2 is still full of beans though, and has gone off in high excitement to do athletics at school all day, dd3 is excited as it's the first night of her school play today, looking forward to watching her later - shame it'll then be a rush to get to work!
Anyway, think dinner will be something quick and easy, poss baked pots, as can do some for ds and dd1 and if they don't want them then I can just freeze the extras. Lunch for dd2 and dd3 was cheese sarnies, muffins, apples and grapes. Will prob be a sarnie for me or the leftover chilli that needs eating or freezing today!
Hope everyone has a great day today xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
:hello:Good morning!
Hilstep - Hope the medical goes OK. Edit - Just read your today's post, so sorry to hear about your ex-FIL. And a pity you had to do all that rushing about, the way you're feeling atm.

Peyton - You have been working sooo hard! Hope you have a chance of a rest very soon!
Bitsy - Hope it's not swine flu
Essex-girl - hope you feel more awaoke now. Sounds as if you could do with an early night, but that's never as easy as it sounds, is it? (((HUGS)))
Penny_Pincher - happy "Anniversary". :beer:Glad you are managing to get things together for your holiday - Slow and steady wins the race. The peace and quiet will do you good.
halight - Glad you had a better night.
(((HUGS))) to all in need of some today!
Didn't make it to the library y'day, so will do that today. Still trying to find space for everything - the house just seems so full of "stuff" IYKWIM, but it's all things we need at some time or another. The clutter is getting me down - it's such a relief to escape from it when we go on holiday, but of course then we have to come back to it :( We have a spare bedroom in theory, but can't actually get into it  - still, I suspect lots of other people are in the same boat. I'm trying to get DH to help me make a list of the things we need the Council to take away for us, but he doesn't feel well enough to be interested atm.
Must also do some ironing today.
Dinner will be chicken stir-fry.
Hope everyone has a good day!
P.S. Have just discovered by accident that if you go into "Edit" and then click on "Edit" again, you can edit your post complete with smileys :j0 -

celyn - Have a lovely holiday! Where are you going? I'm sure you've said, but I can't remember!
Thank youWe leave for London tommorrow afternoon, concert in the evening, staying overnight in Greenwich then off to Brussels for a long weekend with some friends.
Should be fun
I hate the clutter to, I don't know where it all comes fromIt's just "stuff" and we have such poor storage that it's getting insane that everything is so disorganised. Yesterday for example I cut some flowers out of leather offcuts to try and hide the coloured mark on one of my tops (remind me not to let OH do the laundry again!). The rivets were in one box, the hole punch in another and the rivet gun in a third. Arrghhh.
