were you able to scrape off the burnt bits? sometimes, they're ok after doing that - might not look special but may taste good.0 -
Tried that and it tasted rubbish, really stodgy. Will go back to my tried and tested sponge cake recipe I think.

What a shame,after all your effort.
Pineapple and dessicated coconut ( if you have any) would go nice too as a pina colada
cake, and the pineapple juice would have loosened it slightly. I liked the sound of the cherry and almond though. It might just be your tins are too big for the amount of mixture. Perhaps if you posted a typical recipe, and tin size, we can offer more help0
