There are tonnes of recipes on google. Shortbread springs to mind, plain flour butter and caster sugar, simple. Or cookies, self raising flour, eggs, butter, sugar and milk. Basic sponge, self raising flour, butter, sugar, eggs. Then there's really easy things like flapjack, or crispy cakes.

Chocolate Oreo Brownies
125g butter/marg
60g cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla essence
3 eggs
300g sugar
100g plain flour
1 x 154g packet oreo cookies quartered
Grease and line an 8" square tin/dish and preheat oven to 180C.
Melt butter/marg in a microwaveable bowl large enough to take all the other ingredients. Using a fork stir in cocoa, then mix in vanilla essence and beat in eggs one at a time before stirring in sugar. Next fold in flour and gently stir in quartered oreo cookies.
Pour batter into tin and bake at 180C for approx 20-25 mins or until feels firm to touch. Leave to cool in tin before cutting into 16 squares, if you can wait that is!!
No oreos? These can also be made as plain brownies or alternatively stir in approx 60g chocolate chips/sultanas/nuts.
Awesome and very, very moreish

Hi everyone,
I know this is a stupid question and there will be lots of 'mine never last more than a day in this house' answers - but does anyone know how long home made brownies are safe to eat for?
I tried googling it and lots of places say they will go stale after a few days - mine have been in a tin and are definitely not stale.... but they are about 2 weeks old (I can't remember whether they're just over or just under 2 weeks old). I made a huge batch because I was going to take some to 2 different people I was visiting, plus keep some at home... but I ended up cancelling one of th visits so had LOADS and there's only 2 of us!
They're still perfectly moist and look ok - I don't want to bin them but I don't want to eat them and make myself ill either. (I've discovered from google that you can freeze brownies, so this won't happen again anyway!)0 -
Have kept them in fridge for about five days ..must have been a miracle they stayed there that long though0

I would say that if they smell fine and look fine they ARE fine, but that is just my personal opinion on it.
Depending on the ingredients if the eggs were fresh and the brownies cooked thoroughly I'm not sure what else could make you ill, as everything is mainly dry/long life ingredients? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Just had a quick look at an online supermarket website and you can buy brownies that have a shelf life of over a month. If yours smell, look, feel and taste fine......I reckon they'll be just fine!0
