    Hi all,
Anyone know if London Colney is definitely open tommorow? Froggitt, you mentioned in op that closing date was 8th August. I really wanted to go back just before they closed but forgot today icon9.gif
Also if they are open, is it worth going, is there much left?
    thanks icon7.gif

There wasnt that much left......maybe a thousand or so books and no DVDs. I am fairly sure the sign said that it closed today (Sunday).

I was in London Colney borders on Friday and there was hardly anything left (though I did manage to boy 4 books!!) The signs all said it was closing 8th August.

  • It's been reported that apart from the stores they have sold off they are in financial trouble so not the time to buy gift vouchers or prepay for any items!!

The gift vouchers you can buy there (I think!) are the generic Book Vouchers that are accepted at most books stores, WHSmiths etc I think though, so if you are buying gift vouchers, these are safer to buy as they are accepted by a wide range of businesses. Just check they are 'Book Vouchers' not 'Boarders book tokens/vouchers/gift card'.

Thanks froggit and Emj2, I went in today and managed to get a few books at £1. Not much left, but strangely loads of vampire/werewolf/horror type novels.
OH got one or two "managment type" books and I got a few novels, but no kids books left at all, still, had a nice hour browsing.
Staff were pretty peed off (understandably) someone asked if the whole Borders chain was closing down, staff replied, well they weren't before, but now they've sold off the 5 best stores, it won't be long.
Anyway thanks for the original post Froggit, I've got a nice new shelf of cut price books and had many happy hours browsing :D

They closed loads of store in Oz while I was out there (April/May), except paperchase was included. I got some real bargains.
