No, chuckley, magazines and newspapers are not in the 50% sale, and nor is the Paperchase bit (shame :( )

Borders still operate their internet based mail order service.
Their discounts are sometimes even better than Amazon/Pickabook etc, Impressively, they only seem to let you order books that are actually in stock, or available within 7 days, and their delivery times & quality of packaging cannot be faulted. Easy to use site too.
You must always shop around to get the best price, but I hope they keep the mail order service going.
(And no, I'm not connected to Borders, just a very satisfied customer who found their site by accident!) ::T

Damn, I was only in Sainsbury's the other night, wish I'd gone into Borders after all now! Still at least I didn't apply for that job I saw a few months back, I wouldn't have lasted long even if I did get it

I don't see why not, they're only closing two branches.

Just to say that the Oxford St branch has mucho stock reduced to £1 each (on the ground and first floor). I was in yesterday afternoon and picked up some Michel Thomas Foundation language CD packs (normally £70 each), some foreign language dictionaries (normally £15-25 each), Patrick Holford's 'Optimum Nutrition Bible', a bunch of walking and mountaineering books, an expensive Microsoft Vista book etc etc. All a quid apiece! £20 on £530 of books (the receipt showed the original prices...) And since I'm a hillwalking, linguistics and computer nerd, that makes me happy! :j

As you can imagine, stock was going fast though...

I went into Oxford street today and I concur about the brillant bargains.
My daughter is japanese mad but alas so are borders' bargain-hunting customers hence the sectioned off empty area!
But I got some briliant recipe books for £1 each and my daughter got a psychology book which is £36 on amazon for £1!!
Btw did any one notice the suggestion box behind the till?
For those who didn't it said "please tell Borders what you think about them making all of us redundant- border sucks"!
I felt a bit bad after reading that....

Was you the guy that had about 20 Michael Thomas Cd packs? Was quite impressed that someone could learn so many different languages!

They didnt have many Travel Books left, but still had a lot of DVDs & some History books.

Had loads of religious books, IT books & Organic Chemistry Books Left :-)

They did have a pagan section separate from the rest of the religious books. Small corner near the cooking books. I was interested in the cooking books. One poor man wanting to look at the pagan books was completely swamped & crushed by cook book hunters.

Got a few History books for OH, but nought left for me.
They also had no manga or graphic novels left

Just a note to what bonjovibel_729 said. Check your receipt as I was charged full price for a DVD.
  • Slivechair, i went into the Oxford Street branch earlier in the week and noticed that there were tones of travel books on the 1st floor over in the £1 books and all for that price.

I managed to spend about £40 on books and had a great time carrying them back on the tube :(
