  • The ones in Lakeside and Becton closed a little while back and i still miss them - use to love going there with my sis on a saturday morning for coffee and a browse through the books.

    Exactly the reason why Borders are closing stores - too many people treat the place like a library. :confused:

    I went to the Oxford St branch yesterday and I managed to get some of the books I need for university at half the cost :rotfl:

    I went to Borders yesterday and it was very busy, many shelves cleared of stock. I got some lovely items. Will miss it, but I won't miss Starbucks tho'! What a rip-off place it is, lousy coffee and they charged extra to make a stronger cup otherwise it's like milk!:mad: TBH, I prefer Macdonalds!
    Blagged: free samples of handwash from Molton Brown; booklet of walks from Brecon Carreg;
    Free Diabetes monitor, free bee-friendly seeds, a MINI coin and a splash-proof book from Radox.:T
  • Brilliant! I work just around the corner so am going to head there after work. Hopefully there'll be something left.
  • I hope there's some decent books left...
  • I went last night and spent a fortune. It was super busy but there were still loads of bargains left. Definitely worth a trip!

    London Colney this afternoon - plenty of stock left, but children's and teacher training books have been very popular.
    The store is a bit of a mess, so it is worth checking all shelves, to find some hidden gems!
    I had great fun - thanks for the heads-up OP :T

    Its interesting......I was there on the first day when it was still pretty much full.......except for the Manga book section which had been TOTALLY wiped out!!!!

    Obviously some serious Manga fans in south Herts.
