I hope so. He didn't get it this year as he hadn't filled in the form.

There are now 33 watchers on the car! I really hope I get a genuine buyer, who pays cash and takes it away.

I've got a day off today and I'm taking the kids to the British Museum, with some friends. I'm looking forward to it. Must try to avoid spending any money.

My NatWest overdraft is now £2735, the highest it's ever been. I really have to do something about that, and fast.

Alas the car money will probably go to clear a credit card I used to pay for DD2's school trip and the MOT. Anything over can go to the overdraft but it will be a drop in the ocean.

But it all helps, and if it goes towards clearing a credit card that is one less credit card payment you have to worry about later.

Off my local paper website today :
OLDER people in Kirklees still have time to claim a Winter Fuel Payment to help with their heating costs.
Last year 59,230 households in Kirklees received a payment. Most households with someone born on or before 5 July 1950 will receive £250 towards their winter fuel bills. Households with someone aged 80 and over will get £400. New customers, who haven’t claimed yet, still have time, but claims must be received no later than March 30, 2011. My debt total for 1st March is £25,917.49.

That's £950 less than on 1st Feb, and £705 less than on 1st Jan, so while it's not as fast as I'd like, it is downwards at least.

In Feb we sold our car and got some cash to pay some bills. Also OH's benefits finally arrived, backdated.

From now on our outgoings are a bit less, as we have no car costs and also the two younger children should now get free school dinners. And I shouldn't have to top up OH's account so often, so things should get easier. I would really love our debt to reduce by £600/month so that is a goal to aim for.

Less good news is that I have now had no freelance work for several months, so that seems to have dried up. And I am finding my job increasingly difficult and really want to get another.

I'm glad that your DH has had his benefits backdated but I think you should check the letter he has received to see whether it states that he is on contribution based or income based.

If he is on contribution based then he will get this for 6 months and you won't be entitled to free school meals.

If he is on income based this is wrong as your income is too high as a couple to qualify, you will need to notify them of this as if not you will be overpaid. (It is not unheard of for Jobcentre's to make error's in the processing of new claims).

If you have any questions give me a shout. Sorry to put a dampner on things.
