My manager was really sympathetic and agreed to me taking the leave so long as certain jobs were done. I will be doing five days for the other client, unfortunately not the full ten, but at least it will be £1k (or £750 to me, £250 to the taxman).
Working at home today so must not get stuck on here! Will pop back later when I've done enough to deserve a break.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
That's a good enough compromise and I hope your light being on doesn't mean that you are on here.0

Well I surprised myself by getting quite a lot of work done! Stopped now for a snack, and to wrap two Amazon books.... Every little helps.
I'm off to Wales tomorrow, to run in a mountain marathon (but only running 7.5 miles as part of a relay team). I'm going with my sister and bro-in-law and a friend, we will be camping in a site with a river running through that's deep enough to swim in. Really looking forward to the break, though I'm rather scared of the running part. I was running lots at the time I agreed to go but have really slacked off lately and would struggle to run 7.5 miles on the flat! Anyway I thought I had better mention that in case anyone is feeling sorry for me with my hard life that i always moan about!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Sounds like a nice break(except for the running bit)...have a good time.0

Moan moan moan, things feel so difficult!
We just can't live on my earnings. Once again, we are approaching payday with a bigger overdraft.
Kids walking about in shoes with holes, daughters paying for their own lunches with their paper round money etc etc.
OH carrying on as usual and daring to complain about groceries running out.
I have done two days of the extra freelancing, three to go. That will bring in 1k which will be welcome but will only cover the tax bill next month, not actually reduce current debt.
I need to find a better paid job.
Sorry I just felt like letting off steam! Otherwise things are OK. The Man v Horse race was fantastic fun, I am already looking forward to next year. We have blackbirds and goldfinches nesting in the garden which I love. Children are well etc etc etc. It's just the endless scrimping with no tangible result that gets me down!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Did you do the CCCS debt remedy?Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

Er, no. I have just sent my apologies for a meeting tonight so I have a free hour. I will do it when DS is in bed.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

Even if you just rule it out, it has to be worth considering. It could be a whole lot more practical than trying to increase your income even more, or to persuade OH that a job is required.....
It would allow you to have budgets for teenagers, for a start.
Alternatively, tell OH that yes, groceries have run out, and there will be none available until further notice.....or until he gets a job!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Sorry to hear that everything is sounding negative again.
I agree with Hypno that doing the cccs remedy is a good idea.
Can't believe the cheek of your oh complaining about groceries running out..what a cheek0 -
I have done my tax return tonight :A
I also did a quick SOA - I need to check a lot of these figures, and I haven't included freelance income, Amazon, paper round etc, so we do have a bit more than this every month. However, it does confirm that things aren't too healthy. I am going to get OH to check through these figures and will update.
It's too late to ring the CCCS now but will do so at the first opportunity (not tomorrow as am visiting my parents after work).
Meanwhile, any feedback on this SOA is welcome, with the caveat that the figures aren't rock solid and I will be updating soon.
