Sounds great RE the new contract..am so happy for you.
Has your OH thought of being a taxi driver?..he seems to like driving.0 -
I have suggested it but he doesn't like the idea of dealing with the public. The driving he does is for a local playscheme and for activities for disabled people, so he's driving a minibus, and he enjoys that. He's gone for other driving jobs but they required PSV licences.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

I'm glad that you have some certainty of income - that goes a long way towards staying sane!
Ouch to the hamstring though, that sounds very painful. I hope it heals soon, but don't go running again until it is properly better....Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Even if its not enough, Seaxwyn, thats a great start, and its always nice to be confirmed as "a good'un" at a place that knows you!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

A mini miracle today.... OH has registered on the jobcentreplus website and has had an hour long phone interview. He thinks he may get some kind of benefit, and even that they may pay our mortgage interest! I'll believe it when I see it, but it will be great if anything comes of it. They can backdate his claim a few months too.
He has also started filling in a form for work at Sainsbury's.
I was hoping to hear more about my job offer today but nothing was said. I will ask tomorrow.
Debt totals aren't looking good this month. I have had to spend out a lot on expenses for my freelance job, I will get it all back but possibly not til after Christmas. Also I've had to use my Alliance & Leicester account this month, I was hoping not to touch that so that enough would accumulate to pay my January tax bill. I don't think that will happen now. And I will have to buy a rail season ticket in January too.
Oh well - no point dwelling on it - I'm doing the best I can.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Well done to your OH for starting to sort something out.Hope he gets a job as that will really help you out.
Hope you get a definitive answer about your new job so that you know exactly where you stand.I wouldn't overly worry about the debt at the minute as sometimes we have to pay the mins as things crop up as they are bound to over the long period of time that it takes us to try and clear the debt.So don't beat yourself up over stuff.0 -
As you say, Seaxwyn, you're doing the best you can - just keep doing a bit every day (and give yourself a little bit of you-time, even if its only 5mins - thats what I'm doing on here, btw).2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Thanks folks. I get my me-time commuting, a whole hour a day on the train to read, and a choice of pleasant walks to get from the station to work. Today I went to Blackfriars station and walked along the Thames and over the Millennium Bridge to work - loved it.
OH has an interview at the job centre on Friday re his claim for jobseekers/income support/whatever. This is after two hour-long phone interviews. I am glad to know they are so thorough. I have had to provide countless bits of information abut my own financial affairs and have just printed off my bank statements for him to take. Slightly embarrassed about the Kingjackpot transactions!
I still haven't had a chance to find out about the job I've been offered. I so want to sign that contract! Tomorrow is my last day in that office this week so I will try to talk to the boss.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620
