Thanks everyone for the good wishes. The move was definitely the right decision, we are all much happier. I feel very positive about the future, although it is more uncertain than ever. My financial issues are changing as we are going to sell our house and so I can pay off debts. Yet as things stand I don't have the income to keep renting this house for long, so I need to look into other options, such as shared ownership, etc. If anyone knows about affordable housing for a single parent, I'd be grateful for pointers. And of course the need to earn more, more reliably, is still there.
I think it's time to end this diary, and start a new one, I will do that when I have the time to think about it properly.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

I bought a shared ownership flat (single person) many years ago and in my block two others were purchasing because of marital breakdown. your changed circumstances will help you qualify. It isn't perfect as a shared owner you are responsible for all repairs etc but don't own the house. However over time you can buy more (I fully owned mine within six years). Without shared ownershio I would not have got on the housing ladder, my pay was too low and by the time I earned enough the housing market had bolted.0

Hey Seax
Happy New Year
Did you ever start that new diary. I did have a look a couple of times.
I am guessing it has been a bit head down, trying to make it work type stuff.

Hi chev, I'm absolutely fine but not posting here as strangely, debt-busting is not top priority for me now. I'm continuing to pay down my old faithful debts but have taken on some shiny new ones to pay for my new home and unaffordable paying-for-two-households lifestyle.
My top priority is to negotiate a settlement with my ex-partner that is fair to both of us and the children. And to sell our house. Once that's done we will both have some money, and no debts, and I can forge ahead with a new life of solvency - I hope!
My earnings are way too low and I'm applying for a well paid job. Please keep fingers crossed.
But apart from money stress, I'm very happy.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620
